Isaac is the joy of my heart!!!! He was kind, giving, an amazing leader. He was finally at peace knowing what he wanted to do with his life. He was always exposed to people with special needs. He was working at a school as a para educator providing support for the student, other paras and Teachers. Isaac grew up with his older brother Adam and rode on the back of Adams wheelchair which made Adam laugh. Isaac would do dolphin sounds and wiggle Adam loved Isaac and loved the things he did to make him happy. The summer Isaac died he was working two places. He worked at Levy in the morning and in the afternoon he worked at The Looking Glass. In a matter of weeks both places wanted him to work with them. The Looking Glass was going to offer him the position of staff leader in the building he was working in. I was totally amazed at his ability to be calm, he had a calming effect with the students. I remember one day Isaacs class went on a field trip with his McCollum students and one of them threw up and he calmly cleaned up the student letting him know it was ok and then he cleaned up the vomit in the bus!!!!! I know it’s crazy but when he told me that I felt so proud. I’m so sad I won’t get to see Isaac live his life and all the possibilities. I believe growing up with a special needs sibling makes your heart a little bigger. Adam was born severely disable he is 10yrs older and his brother Matt is 12yrs older. Matt was like a third parent to Isaac. He helped me so much with Isaac. Matt works with special needs children too and is amazing at it. Isaac could do several foreign accents and learned some sassy remarks from his oldest brother Matt and many of Matts friends. I was in awe that he could do it. He could always make me laugh. Isaac brought so much joy to our lives. When Isaac was 7yrs old we lost our sweet Adam. He fought long and hard to stay with us, but God gave us the strength to hold Adam close and let him go home where he is free to run, dance and be with his Lord. Two years later Isaacs Dad, Mom and favorite aunt were in a serious car accident. His Mother lived but his Father Marty and aunt Christy were killed on impact. Isaac at the age of 10 has lost half his family. Isaac was extremely intelligent, he always tested high in Language Arts, Math and Science. In his freshman year of high school he decided to play football and basketball. He was a force to be reconed with. This young man had grown to be 6’5 and 285 pounds. The summer before Senior year he was invited to FBU camps in San Antonio and Little Rock. He was invited to the Nike training camp at the Dallas Cowboys training camp. He was invited to the FBU Top Gun camp in Virginia in August of 2012. Isaac had an episode during his daily high school workouts. He passed out, his chest hurt and he couldn’t catch his breath. The doc was pretty sure he was just dehydrated but wanted to run an EKG. Your heart drops when the doc comes in and tells him you can not leave the couch until his cardiologist appt 3 days later. That day was the beginning of the devestation of a young mans life. Isaac was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy the heart condition that kills instantly during competitive sports. My heart broke to see this young mans dreams crumble. Senior year spring break he had an ICD implanted to provide some security that his heart could be shocked out of the fatal arrhythmia that could kill him. I sighed a sigh of relief that we got a warning a chance to protect my son I loved dearly. We can never ever trust security because people still have free choice. He died Tuesday July 7th. My heart constantly calls out to him, my heart is forever broken. Isaac was going to change the world for so many children with special needs. I am eternally blessed that God allowed me almost 20yrs to love this amazing young man. God placed him in my life at a time when he knew I needed him. God knew I would need Isaac to give me purpose after all the loss on December, 5th 2004. I wish Isaac was still here happy in his life, sometimes we don’t see what we have until it’s gone. I took for granted that Isaac would be here long after I was gone. Isaac, Marty, Adam and Christy are waiting for me when my purpose here is done. Today is my 3rd Christmas without him, and I still pray this never happened. I could never be selfish enough to want him back here with me because he’s where I will be one day.
