How time flies! Two years gone so quickly like it’s yesterday. Your departure is still very fresh in our memory and we pray for your continued rest in peace.

O death, where is your sting? Aunty Iyabo has gone to be with her maker.

Adieu to a woman of many parts: mother, public administrator, C suite executive, an educationist and woman with heart and soul for God. You left behind indelible footprints in the sand of time; you lived your life, you did your work and then you took your hat.

I have read a few of your writings and contributions to the quest and development of girl education in Nigeria. The nuance in your writings means only one thing: your love for girl child education is unparallel. Thank you for stepping forward and be counted.

We thank God for giving you to the Olafimihan family, we are richer and better off knowing you and calling you our own.

Let me reference Martin Luther “Every man must do two things alone; he must do his own believing and his own dying.” At 74, you have fulfilled all obligations within space and time to the best of your ability, you have nothing more to take, you have no regrets, no malice in being who you are – and now your sun has eclipsed. Goodbye Aunty Iyabo.

Goodnight Grandma. With d little time I stayed in Abuja each time I'm in Church, you showed how generous you're by sharing d fruits & foods in your car. Ur car is always filled with people moving with u after service. U will greatly be missed as I saw how you followed church services online by asking for link to join. We love u but God loves u most. Sleep on dearly beloved. Adieu

I am honored to say a few words about my Aunt Iyabo. She was a cheerful, humble and dignified lady who was full of life. Her smile could light up a room and it was infectious. She made everyone around her happy. Whether it was a funny joke, her positive attitude, or her big smile, she was a delight to be around.
As a young undergraduate at ABU Zaria in the early 80’s , I had the privilege of spending lots of time under her care during the few weeks before resumption or just after vacation. She was my mother in Zaria. My biological mother also an Olafimihan was very close to her and her siblings, as she grew up under the care of their parents (Late Most Rev & Mrs J B Olafimihan). No matter how much I might have been given by my parents, she’s always got more to add for me both financially and morally.
As I got older, she always made effort to be in touch. She was there at my graduation at ABU Zaria, was at my wedding and was able to visit us and stayed with my family in London. She was continually full of encouragement. I really appreciated how much she cared and knew I could always count on her counsel.
When my sister (Funmi Ajiboye nee Opaleke) died followed shortly by my mother early last year, she was full of prayers and great words of counsel to guide us (siblings), little did I know that she was in battle with a rare condition of her own as she was such a positive and strong lady never acted down. She was always encouraging us to cheer up and showing us the positives.
I will miss auntie Iyabo’s smile and positive attitude. She was an incredible aunt to us. She surely will be missed by a lot of people here today. She has left a good legacy in her children Seyi and Tosin. Our good God will continue to guide and protect them as they also navigate their course in life.
We love you but God takes preference over us with his love for you. Sleep on and sleep well in the bosom of our lord Jesus Christ till we meet again and part no more.

It's finally come to this.... I was hoping this day could be stalled.... But I
guess nothing lasts forever...

I'm still coming to terms with your death, it's still unbelievable... I don't know that I'll ever understand it; but I know that you're with The Father now, and that we'll meet again. Adieu grandma.
