Has it really been 2 years? I still miss his laugh and stories but the pain has been replaced with little smiles every time a "Papa J ism" sneaks out of my mouth. We will be together again soon enough and he will have explored every corner of heaven and know every back road and fishing hole.

Uncle JD was always so much fun! I always loved having he and Aunt Roxie visit. We lived on Lake Buchanan and on one of their visits, I noticed Uncle JD wasn't anywhere around. When I looked outside, I saw JD directing traffic on the boat ramp... helping people launch their boats and visiting with everyone! It was great...such a friendly, kind soul!

Hi Papa J, as I have known him!  What a heart he has shown me by his witness in helping with several of my moves these last 5 years. Always shows up, never complained and was a lot of fun to hang with when we were loading and unloading furniture! Son Mark, one of my bestest friends, as many times engaged his dad with me, which was always a blessing! RIP Papa J!  I do believe you are now fishing with Jesus and the Disciples!! What a blessing!! Tim Owens

I will forever remember JD with an engaging smile on his face, a kind word or funny anecdote on his lips, and a helpful hand extended. He will be missed. I doubt many in heaven have had the number of fun family times the Erwin's have to remember. All love.

Thank you to Ron for the beautiful poem and for reading it at the reception.
 JD's Wish
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gently Autumn rain.
When you awake in  mornings hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.

I am the smile on Roxie's face
I am the strength in her embrace.
I am the care in Mark's strong voice.
I am the wisdom in his choice.
I am the strength in Rene's eyes.
I am the tears when 'ere she cries.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I'll miss him!

All a Bear Hug and a Smile!

April 20, 2017

Oh my dear friends, Rene, Roxci and the rest of the Sharbers and Erwin families..

What a wonderful, kind, great loving spirit JD has and will continue this in heaven till you meet again!

Whether Papa J met me at your front door Rene, or in your kitchen it was with a two handed bear hug, always a smile and always a postive word!!

I am so lucky to have met a man with such love for his Wife and family. He certainly lived his life with gusto, hard work and also took time to smell the roses! Amazing role model for us all.

My heart is heavy with sadness for you all but I promise you, he is still with you. Look for those signs. He  is sending them to you.

Love, Cindi DeWine
