Dad's life
Jacinto RIvera was first drafted and sent to Fort Logan, Colorado to prepare and receive his uniform before going on to Camp Roberts, Ca.for training. Later,he was transferred to Four door and Camp Stone,Ca.for further training on the operation of the Sub Machine gun and close combat. He then returned to Four door, Ca.to await his order's to go overseas. He soon was sent to New Guinea, in the Philippines. Thereafter, he was transferred to paw An.Jacinto spent a total of twenty two months in the Philippines including three months in Hiroshima soon after the Atomic Bomb. In 1946, Jacinto was discharged with Honors from the Army. He served as a sharp shooter where he operated the sub machine gun and also the 105 Hauser cannon!
