Remembering Jack on his birthday anniversary - always the smile no matter what and yes in these difficult times right now I wonder what words of wisdom he would have always trying to make light of a bad situation. He was the best to work with and he knew how to enjoy some good times!

Hard to believe it’s been a year. Jack’s inspiration is greater than ever . Whenever I start feeling sorry for myself, I try to think how Jack would handle it...with a smile and a sense of humor. And maybe a margarita and some classic rock! A toast to the best brother in law I could ever hope for.

You are in our thoughts and know that we would have enjoyed knowing you. We did hear wonderful things about you from your father-in-law (my uncle) Mark. Mark shared things about you and Sharon over the years. Just sorry that the miles were so far apart with us living in Minnesota & now Florida. Keep smiling up there in heaven. Bless you.  And to Sharon, may peace be with you & the rest of the families as you are also in our thoughts. Maurine & Barrie White

Uncle Jack, for 33 years you’ve been making me smile ( and laugh) . From taking that Jag ( where DID you get that car? ) up in the mountains for whitewater rafting to dancing at Maddie and Jeff’s wedding , I wasn’t the only person smiling. You don’t just make friends, you make memories.....thanks for being a hell of a brother in law,  Uncle Tim

His Life
June 26, 2018
John Alfred Hopkins, better known as Jack, passed away on June 20, 2018 at the age of 60 years.
Jack battled cancer for several years with tenacity, grace and dignity. Jack is a fighter and an incredible inspiration to many. He has faced some of life’s hardest obstacles with a smile on his face.
Jack loved fast cars, life on the lake and a great adventure — whether it be water skiing, snow skiing, dirt biking or fishing. A compassionate husband, father, brother and friend, he never turned down a dance, a good time, or the perfect margarita. Jack was a classic Ford motor enthusiast and a member of the Texas Cobra Club.
He lived life fast, joyfully and with a wide open heart. He inspired so many with his passion for life, quiet confidence, resilient spirit and loving heart. He never met a stranger and had an unforgettable grin.
Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 24 years, Sharon, his daughter Lauren (Zach), and granddaughter Elliot. He is survived by his brother Tom (Linda), sisters Jan (Larry) and Peggy (Tim), along with 5 nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his father, John Hopkins and mother, Frieda Hopkins.
Jack was a beloved boss and colleague, dedicating 32 years to Million Air Dallas, Texas. He had an instrumental career in aviation, and played a critical role in building Million Air. Jack started his career in building maintenance in 1984. He advanced to a job in Line Service, to eventually become General Manager and finally land as President of Million Air Dallas.
Jack served on the board of Turning POINT (Paraplegics On Independent Nature Tours), a non-profit organization providing adapted outdoor recreational activities and adventures for those with physical challenges.
A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, August 11, at Jack's family lake house on Lake Bob Sandlin in Pittsburg, Texas.
Memorial donations in memory of Jack can be made to the American Cancer Society, or to an organization of your choice.

We didn't know Jack, but we heard about him for several years, since having known Peggy & Tim.  The pictures are evidence of how much he meant to his siblings, friends, and family.  What a tribute and of course what a loss.  Prayers for strength to all of you.

We can truly say that Jack was one of the best friends we have ever had.  He was an incredibly amazing, sweet person, always happy and smiling.   We have shared so many wonderful times together, from spending time at Lake Lewisville, going out to dinner, watching movies, spending weekends at the lake house, having a cocktail, cooking, boat rides on Lake Bob Sandlin, playing board games, listening to music, tinkering on the cars, or simply just talking.   Every beautiful memory we will cherish forever.

Our prayers go out to Sharon, Lauren and her family, and all his family and friends as he will be missed dearly.  He is an angel in Heaven and smiling down on all of us.  Until we meet again dear friend.  We love you Jack.
