Forever In Our Hearts

Jack Leo Quanstrom passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the age of 92. Our beloved "Lucky Jack" was born on June 10, 1923, in Rupert, Idaho. He is the eldest son of George Leo and Mary Emma Quanstrom, and the brother of Phyllis, Ruth, Clara, Rulon, Marianne, Arlene, Patrick, and Michael. He joined the United States Navy in 1941, and served mainly in the South Pacific until 1946. In 1947, he graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in economics—with the distinction of Cum Laude, and became a Phi Beta Kappa member.

Next he worked for the United Fruit Company in Costa Rica where he met his beautiful wife, Herminia. They were married on January 10, 1949. Jack received his BS in electrical engineering at the University of Washington in 1959. He then received his MSEE from Stanford while working for IBM, where he was employed from 1960 to 1987.

He moved to Boca Raton from San Jose, CA, in 1968. He was an accomplished chess player and was fluent in Spanish and German. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a Boy Scout leader in the Boca Raton Ward. He is the father of four children: Janet A. Moon, who passed away on April 29, 2015, Joan P. Jones, Jack Quanstrom Jr., and Rosie Bassette Parry. He has sixteen grandchildren and forty-three great grandchildren.

Jack was a devoted husband and father, who made his family his number one priority. He is very much loved and admired, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him!
