Vicki, when you asked me to place a story about Jack on this site, my first thought, which one of the thousands would I use. Jack and I were together as a great team for 12 years. He was one of the most devoted, honest, respected persons I have ever known, with a great, quick wit and sense of humor. When he was in office as Mayor of St Ann, every November, I would put West Overland Ambulance on stand-by, cause Mayor Rehagen was putting up Christmas lights on the roof and several times, he managed to either fall off or step off. When the city reclamation center was being completed under his tenure, he, being a hands on everything, was on site checking everything. He was warned about a large hole, but managed to fall in anyway. On the way down, his ear was caught on a piece of metal, almost making him "One Eared Jack". He received the honor of Political Figure of the Year for the St Louis area, served as an officer of St Louis County Municipal League being president for 3 years in a row. He was president of the Mayors' of Large Cities and chairman of a group of Mayors who fought the reorganization of St Louis County in the early 90's. Through the years, Jack, his wife Carole, my late husband Ed and I took many trips together, always managing to have great adventures. many laughs and many memories. I will truly miss you, my dear friend, and forever hold you near and dear in my heart.

The passing of a Patriarch is never easy on the heart of loved ones,,,, however the mantle has already been passed and those that follow will have much work to fill the shoes of Jack. I liken his passing to the leaves of autumn. The beautiful, bright, colorful life of a leaf in fall is the nourishment for new green growth in spring. His memory will be with us for many seasons to come. Hopefully our autumn will be as colorful as Jack's.

Christmas at the Rehagen's

January 2, 2014

Christmas eve at the Rehagen household was always like none other.  Mr. Rehagen would always bring home the biggest most perfect tree and never ask for help to bring it in or set it up in the stand.  Mrs. Rehagen would be singing Christmas caroles, at the top of her lungs, in that beautiful saprano voice of hers as all the kids were making/decorating the sugar cookies that Kim had made.  I haven't spent Christmas or Christmas eve w/that family for 30 years but still remember the celebration and as I said,  have never experienced another like it.  Love to you all during this time of loss.  Gail (Harmon) Crosby
