a poem for my boy

January 18, 2012

it was a friday when i met you,
overwhelmed with love and joy.
my heart swelled with pride,
when the doctor said "its a boy!"

i heard your first baby cries,
and the tears rolled down my face.
my son was finally with us,
taking his rightful place.

gave you a name so treasured,
the name of another who has my love.
the name is of your ninny,
who watches us from above.

welcomed home with loving arms,
for all those around to adore.
my little monkey man,
i could not have loved you more.

the lord blessed me with two daughters,
and now with a long awaited son.
you and dad the only guys,
bringing our numbers up by one.

all my babies brought a smile to my face,
you and your sisters never failed.
purest of love to and from,
my perfect life unveiled.

always by your side when you needed me,
there even when you did not.
ready to walk through fire for you,
without even a second thought.

you kids are my life,
everything in the world to me.
i felt the love in return,
constant and unconditionally.

didnt want any of you to go without,
praying that you never would.
gave you the best i was able,
did everything i could.

it was a thursday when you left me,
not understanding how or why.
again the tears rolled down my face,
all i could do was cry.

you went to a place where i was not,
a place above us in the sky.
so many questions left unanswered,
and me wanting my little guy.

i know you are in good hands,
with the lord and your grandmas up there.
i know you are loved just as much,
but it still hardly seems fair.

know that everyday i think of you,
and wish that you were still with me.
wishing to hold you in my arms again,
but knowing that will never be.

we love you and miss you so much monkey...

monkey man

January 18, 2012

i call him my little monkey man because when he first came home and would cry he would make a noise similar to the beginning of "down with the sickness" and he sounded just like a lil monkey...should have gotten that on tape
