His Life

A BRAVE SOLDIER...

Jagtar, a pious soul, was 1st born to Major Amarjit Singh Sangha and Mrs. Harjit Kaur Sangha on 22 Jan 1939,at Kala Sanghian,Kapurthala(Punjab) amidst celebrations in the family.

 He completed schooling, while travelled with family to various Military Stations and joined Khalsa College,Amritsar & DAV College, Jalandhar for higher studies.At college, he was the popular choice for Leadership in all extra-curricular activities.
- A keen Bhangra Dancer and Captain of 'Punjab State Bhangra Team', representing State at Republic Day Parade,New Delhi.
- A great Actor & Singer of Punjabi Folk Songs,life of every private/public gathering.
- A keen Sportsman and a wonderful human-being to his friends & aquintences. 

Keeping-up with the family tradition, he joined Indian Army as a Commissioned Officer in Scinde Hourse(14 Horse Cavalry) in Dec'1961, his First Love,indeed.He lead the Paltan/troops successfully in War with Pakistan on Western Front in 1965 & 1971.Not only Scinde Horse earned a coveted Bettle Honor for "Battle of Dograi" but also rewarded SENA MEDAL for his Bravery.

Major Jagtar Singh Sangha,SM was a highly respected & adored Sqarden Commander of 14 Scinde Horse, Cavellary and favourate/trusted Commander of His Highness Brigadier Sukhjit Singh, Maharaja of Kakurthala,CO.

On 7th June'1669, he got married to Satwant Kaur and they were blessed with Gem of a Son Harjot Singh Sangha on 24 May'1981,bringing lots of Joy & Happiness to entire family...

Tough Time started for Brave Heart Jagtar, when he was diagnosed dreaded Parkinson's at he young age of 32 by Dr. Stern in UK. He went-through  Neck Surgery by Dr. Nambudaripad at CMC,Ludhiana.But his health kept  deteriorating till he finally left Army on Medical Grounds and proceeded to settled-down in London,UK. 

He was a Brave Soldier, who fought the disease for 30 long years and finally sucummed to it on04 March'2001.His absence has left a vacuum in our life, never to be filled, but he is at peace with Wahe Guruji in Heaven..

"Late Major Jagtar Singh Sangha,SM(Gallantry), the Hero of the 'Bettle of Dograi'.His 'C' Squadron of Scinde Horse dominated & supported 3 Grenadiers in capturing Dograi, in 1965 WAR. This Braveheart was again commanding 'C' Squadron of the Scinde Horse in 1971 WAR. In the famous 'Battle of Malakpur', again he showed his mettle and brought laurels to our Regiment by winning the 'Bettle Honour of Malakpur'".He certainly deserved a 'MAHA VEER CHAKARA (Gallantry)' for leading and winning these famous Operations in active WARs !!!


He was a blessed soul, loved & missed by one and all ....
