Jalanda was the joy of everyone’s day. With her LOUD laugh, she was sure to make anyone’s bad day, a good one. As she would ALWAYS lend a helping hand to those in need, Jalanda could always be relied upon; because to her, any task could be accomplished.

Jalanda had many nicknames, but the most notable were “J.J.” and “Auntie LaLa”!

Jalanda was an avid reader. She loved literature, especially her “Hood Book’s”. Jalanda’s cooking was excellent. Her smothered pork chops were always on point; and you can always count on her to contribute a dish of her own for any family gatherings and/or parties.

Jalanda also very much enjoyed music. Music was to her as a vacation getaway would be to a traveler. You would always know that she was in her zone whenever you’d hear the blaring speakers emitting the sounds of, amongst others, Glady’s Knight, Luther Vandross and En Vogue. Let one of her favorite songs play, and you would see Jalanda transform herself into the singer(s) themselves, as if she were actually on stage at a concert. Always funny to witness her renditions.

Jalanda contributed to our world in many ways, and her imprints are everlasting. Besides dedicating a lot of her life to helping others, Jalanda also assisted for many years, in helping individuals and families secure housing. Jalanda employed herself within the Housing Department, where she was involved in many different roles, with the most important role being in helping others remain in housing.

Jalanda also rewarded this world with two wonderful children, Derrick and Tiara. Her legacy, along with her wholeheartedness, kindness and wisdom will live on through them, as well as their offspring.
