Dad, all, or shall I say most, of what we needed to say to you were said while you were here.

A lot of what we discussed centred on Christ, the church and the kingdom, and family. You wanted progress that honours God, and we ask all to cherish that too.

We, your children, share your love and commitment to the family and godly values you espoused.

Is it the love you taught us or the integrity, as I saw you reject an inducement right in my presence after you had told me you will not buy that new chopper I requested as you had no money for that? What a legacy.

We ask all to rally on and keep the values going. Good night daddy!

TRIBUTE FROM Professor R. A. Akindele

*Tributes to James Adedeji Olugbenle*

The Planet Earth in which we all live is unquestionably a huge and complex marketplace. In the market of life, producing, buying and selling of goods and services constitute the central preoccupation of all individuals living therein. The market of life is indeed unique and different from all micro-markets operating on the landscape of human existence. It is different because it does not open at the same time/hour for transactions for all of us; neither does it similarly close at the same time for all of us.

For reasons best known to Him, God Almighty asked my senior at school - Egbado ( now Yewa) College - and good 'brother', Deji, to leave the market of life and come back home for eternal rest. Territorial distance arbitrarily separated us and consequently prevented me from reaping the huge advantages of the fruits of his seniority and friendship; but compatibility of outlook, temperament and character unquestionably united us in the same way as mutual respect and admiration acted as a magnet to solidify the interpersonal conviviality that existed and developed between us.

Senior Olugbenle left the following qualities behind him for us to emulate and be proud of : courage to speak the truth, leadership by example, simplicity, kindness, humility, integrity and contentment. He left behind an enviable record of outstanding services at the NIDB in Lagos and his local community in Yewa Land will continue to remember his manufacturing services headquartered in Ilaro.

When I plead that his soul should continue to rest in peace in the bosom of the Lord, the peace I have in mind is *not* that of the graveyard and cemetery notoriously characterized by loneliness and emptiness but one that flows from the thunderous humility plus the silent and constructively purposeful activism in the robust and numerous services being carried out in God's sacred temple, indeed in the morally and spiritually perfect Kingdom of the Lord.

TRIBUTE FROM The Sunbeam Sisters and Stars Society Cathedral Church of Christ, Ilaro.

TRIBUTE TO OUR FOUNDING PATRON AND FATHER, PRINCE JAMES ADEDEJI OLUGBENLE FCA, FCIS, Chartered Accountant/Secretary.

"How are the mighty fallen amid foes?" Prince James Adedeji Olugbenle FCA, FCIS, Chartered Accountant/Secretary, our father, Baba Oba of Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland. Prince James Adedeji Olugbenle FCA, FCIS; Chartered Accountant/ Secretary, The pronouncement of your death threw us off balance. It seemed we received a terrible blow from the enemy, and the only question we could ask was: How are the mighty fallen amid foes? What else could extinguish your star? What could erase you from this planet earth? Only death, only terrible Mr Death.

While you were alive, you made conscious efforts to propagate the words of God by being his Apostle. It was evident in the numerous awards you received from many Churches and the Christian Association of Nigeria. You were very spiritual, prayerful and always prophesying into peoples lives. Some of your prophecies were testimonies that would make you live on.

Baba Olugbenle, your life was in no doubt worthy of emulation. Of the over 80 years you lived on the planet earth, half was for fulfilling the word of God in Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” Also, you served humanity through your philanthropic gestures.
You gave back to your community through jobs creation for multitudes in Double Crown Foods Ltd, Ilaro.

Baba, you were everything one could wish for in a father and a leader. You were the epitome of courage in leadership. You never discriminated against anybody in your dealings with people. You accepted and accommodated the Muslim community despite you were of a Christian faith. You employed Muslims and Christians alike in your Company. You treated people of both faiths equally.

Since death is inevitable, we thank God who gave us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. ‭‭THE SUNBEAM SISTERS AND STARS have taken solace in God's word, that on the last day, we shall meet to part no more. We cannot fill the vacuum created in our hearts by your exit. Also, we can never forget the legacies you left behind. You were indeed a man of simplicity and good virtues - a man of honesty and decent principles. Therefore, our dear father, our great motivator, may you rest in perfect peace and dwell in the paradise of God. We will greatly miss you, Dad.‬‬

Adieu!!!

TRIBUTE FROM Dr & Chief (Mrs) R. A. Oloyo (Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.)

Tribute to a Stateman, Industrialist, Philanthropist, Community leader and Apostle of God - Prince Adedeji Olugbenle, FCA

A man of many parts who presented himself as having different personalities to different people. A community leader who believed in and worked for the advancement of his community, Ilaro. He purposefully established a modern industry in the locality and employed the indigenes as workers. Besides, cassava four - the local farm produce from the peasants was the raw material for the industry. The strategy was excellent because it further promoted the economic emancipation of his people.

Prince Olugbenle, an industrialist and innovator, would be remembered in the manufacturers' circle for the fine and state-of-the-art furniture making and bread and biscuit production using local raw materials. The touch-of-class associated with the furniture produced indigenously from the defunct famous IG Ltd would linger for a long time to come. He served Ogun State and the nation by availing his wealth of experience in business management in every job he was assigned.

As a member of the Elder Statemen Group in Ogun State, Prince Olugbenle exhibited his unbiased and non-discriminatory attributes in the discharge of the assignment. The elder's forum brokered peace and restored stability among the ethnic groups in the State.  It secured even government interventions in infrastructures development in the three senatorial districts of the State.

Prince Olugbenle, an uncelebrated apostle of God, was the first to profess my elevation to the exalted position of the Chief Executive Officer of the Polytechnic several years ahead of the appointment. It is a testimony. I am sure that many people will have testimonies of his prophecies in their lives. In a show of support for my administration and the growth of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro Prince Olugbenle extended his philanthropic gesture to the Department of Accountancy. I drew closer to him when he accepted being one of the patrons of the Sunbeam Sisters of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Ilaro, the society my wife belongs to, too. He proved himself an outstanding mentor, excellent guidance and counsellor, a highly spiritual Christian, a prayer warrior, and a generous philanthropist. He warmly received Sunbeam sisters and their families in his home.

There is no doubt that the community would miss him greatly. We must accept as believers, only that he left us at the appointed time. He lived a fulfilled life. Goodnight.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.

I was fortunate to have been daddy's physician during the latter years of his life.

Daddy was always full of faith and never perturbed by any negative medical report.

He was very hospitable and accommodating!

Despite being an international man of repute, Daddy was very humble and easy to relate with.

In truth, BLESSED IS THE MEMORY OF THE JUST!

TRIBUTE FROM OMOWUNMI OLUGBENLE

To God be the Glory.

The exit of our blessed and highly favoured Patriarch "grandpa Ilaro" as fondly called by our sons, (who would have done all to be here on a day such as this) will be remembered for good for generations to come. His utterances were filled only with blessings from the Lord.

Your memories will continue to impact our world even in your transition, for your hard work as an industrious and illustrious Elder statesman who exemplified how possible it is to be actively involved at the peak of your career as well as serve the Lord as a Pastor at his local assembly whilst impacting the entire community starting from Ilaro and it's environment, his involvement with other states of the federation and the international communities.

We also saw how you emulated the virtues of your beloved, gentle, kind and industrious
mother of blessed memory, Mama Omorilewa (Iya eleko) who as an illustrious sole trader in confectioneries etc served the children and youth in the Ilupeju community in Lagos, where she lived at the time.

The Lord continues to rest her soul in Jesus Name.

Your life, times and the impact speaks of your gentleness and meekness which endeared all to you.

According to Hebrews 11v32, time will fail us to say further on the residues...but to keep the watch and pray till the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You have fought the good fight.

You have kept the faith and now with your Maker.

The race to continue in this world remains a major pursuit for all left behind.

Odigba Grandpa Ilaro!
Adieu Baba Oba!

The Lord rest your soul and at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, may you rise up in Glory with him in Jesus Name. Amen.

TRIBUTE FROM MICHAEL OLUGBENLE

So incredibly grateful and happy and I can call myself the son of Double Crown. A great man indeed.

My father was very special. I always saw him as a perfect man. The way he walked, the way he talked. His personality was one of a kind. Quiet but yet assertive.

He was a true visionary, a sagacious man. Even during his last days, He always amazed me, with his ability to remember certain things and articulate it beyond expectations. His mind never dulled.

He always had high expectations for all his children, during the times I fell short of it, he never ceased to show me love and tell me he loved. He wasn't a man to that said that much. But for some reason he knew the right time I needed to here it. Those words meant a lot especially during those tough times.

I'm sad you no longer here with me to see all the good I've accomplished, I cry at times knowing how proud you'd be, But I know you are in a better place. Greet mama for me.

*TRIBUTE TO DAD*

As i look back over time,
I find myself wondering what my life could have been if not for your large heart of love and acceptance...Your fatherly love was second to none..
Did i even remember to thank you enough for all you have done for me?
For all the times you were by my side to help and support me
To celebrate my successes,to understand my problems and accept my defeats
For teaching me by your example, the value of hard work, good judgment,
courage and integrity
I wonder if i ever thanked you enough for the sacrifices you made to let me have the very best
And for the simple things like laughter, smiles and times we shared together as father and daughter
If i have forgotten to show my Gratitude enough for all the things you did,
I'm thanking you now.And I'm hoping you knew all along
how much you meant to me
Farewell Dad...You will forever be missed....I love you!

TRIBUTE FROM Funmi (Nee Olugbenle) and Kola Kehinde

Dear Daddy,
It was hard to see you getting older and looking frail
Sometimes you were unable to get your words or a song out,
Even then you would always point at Heaven or ask for a prayer.
It's good to know that through Jesus Christ our Lord, you now have a glorious, resurrected body, free from all ailments.

Others will remember you for different reasons, but it was the simple things that you did in my childhood that still stand out vividly for me:

 Family devotions every morning with you leading us in hymns and prayer. I loved your tenor. These facilitated my awareness and love for God.
 Taking time to attend my prize-giving day
 Giving up the only bed in the house at Ilaro, while it was being built. You gladly slept on the floor in another room.
 Spending time with you in the car as you drove me for hours and hours to interviews in preparation for my entry into a good secondary school.
 Sitting on the carpet with me and helping me to wrap up and protect my new schoolbooks
 Sharing your plate of food with me in your 'big office' at Mandilas House, Lagos
 The Sunday afternoon chats with orange squash on the balcony of our family home
 I could go on and on and on!

You were a giver with a large heart. You did your best to help anyone in distress. When you had no solution, you would sing- “Jesu yo s’eyanu, Baba mi yo s’eyanu o. Ona ti o gba, emi ko mo, Baba yo s’eyanu”.

There were many hard and difficult times indeed.
I thank God for all the things that made me the person I am today.
You searched for God and taught me to search for Him.
In the end, God in His Mercy, revealed Himself to me and to you.
I can only say with certainty and joy that …

"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Corinthians 15:55-57)

See you in the glorious morning Daddy

TRIBUTE FROM CHIEF BAYO OLAGOKE

Papa Funmi (as I fondly called him) was an easy-going person. I once saw him called a drummer to himself and was dancing alone. He loved dancing. I became closer to him when I was admitted to study Engineering in the University of Lagos in 1967 (54 years ago). At that time, he was working as an accountant with Electricity Corporation of Nigeria (E. C. N.) and was living in E. C. N. staff quarters in Moore Road Yaba. Moore Road, Yaba lies between University of Lagos Akoka Campus and College of Technology Yaba.

Prince Adedeji Olugbenle later lived in the newly established Ilupeju Industrial Estate. He had been constructing his own house. When the construction got to the decking level, he moved in with his family. They were one of the first settlers of the present Ilupeju Estate. Hitherto Papa Funmi had married our full-blooded sister, Chief (Mrs) Modupe Olusola Olugbenle (nee Olagoke) in Leeds United Kingdom. At the time of the movement of the family to Ilupeju Estate, he had changed to working in Nigeria Industrial Development Bank (N.I.D.B.).

Prince Adedeji Olugbenle facilitated my being the only Engineer in an Investment set up namely Investment and Credit Corporation (I.I.C.C.) Circa 1974, 47years ago. Papa Funmi is largely able to " ‘dance away his sorrow’.

Adieu. Rest In Perfect Peace, Prince James Adedeji Olugbenle FCA.

TRIBUTE FROM THE OLAGOKE FAMILY

TRIBUTE TO PRINCE J. A. OLUGBENLE FCA

On behalf of the OLAGOKE Family of Yemetu Amokoko, Ibadan, Oyo State, we commiserate with the OLUGBENLE Family of the Asade Agunloye Royal Household of Ilaro on the home call of Prince James Adedeji OLUGBENLE (FCA) on 4th July, 2021. Papa Funmi, as we all fondly calls him, was a perfect gentleman who hardly raises his voice, even in very tense situations, he was an epitome of wisdom, knowledge and industry in all he ever laid his hands on. He was brilliant, hardworking and very resourceful; these qualities enabled him to rise to the apex of his profession: accounting.

Papa Funmi’s interaction with the Olagoke Family dated back to 1963 when he got married to our only sister; Chief (Mrs.) Modupe Olushola Olugbenle (of blessed memory) in Leeds, UK. Since then, he became a member of our family, and we also became members of his family. We, most times, spend our holidays in his home which was warm and welcoming. Behind the introverted mien of Papa Funmi was a very warm, friendly and kind humane man. He assisted all his brothers-in-law in one form or the other; all you needed do was “ask” and it was as well as done.

Prince J. A. Olugbenle would be surely missed by his family, friends and acquaintances. We take solace in the knowledge that he is resting in the bosom of his Lord and Saviour that he devoted his life to serving in various capacities. We are also grateful to the Almighty for the family he left: Mr. & Mrs. Kola Kehinde (Funmilayo), Mr. & Mrs. John Femi-Ajala (Bukola), Pastor & Mrs. Olumide Olugbenle (Olumide), Evangelist & Mrs. Kayode Oloyede, (Shola), Prince & Mrs. Ayodeji Olugbenle (Ayodeji), their children and grandchildren.

Our comforting prayers also go to the Royal Household and the entire YEWALAND Community on this sad loss; may the Almighty God comfort His people and grant the soul of the departed Prince eternal rest.

TRIBUTE FROM Late Rev. T J.B Agbaja Family.( In-law)

Good people die everyday. Yet not all of them affirm for us the goodness in humanity and leadership the way Grandpa James Adedeji Olugbenle FCA. JP. Did.

Prince James Adedeji Olugbenle was an extremely courageous and resourceful man, he loved people, and was willing to do the hard work it takes to build all kinds of relationships.

He intentionally built the kind of relationships in the communities he worked in that would bring people together and along, because he was so good at relationship building, things got done.

It would have been easy for him to slip into an authoritative power mode, but his humility was the real power he had in the relationships he cultivated. Being humble helped him to be known as someone who acted out ethically even while others in similar positions did not.

He was known for mentoring others in the profession he loved; he was the "go to" person for young leaders to gain the self-confidence needed to do the difficult work of public service. He sought to develop the people who worked in his organization because he knew they would be better leaders as a result of what they learned.

To a great father and grandfather, you will be greatly missed and celebrated.., for your legacy lives on.

Rest on Papa.

TRIBUTE FROM iLARO AND DISTRICT SOCIETY OF ICAN

A TRIBUTE TO ‘BABA OBA’ LATE .°RINCE JAMES ADEDEJI OLUGBENLE (CCA) WITH MEMBERSHIP NUMBER: MB0004I 4

Late Prince Adedeji Olugbenle (FCA) was a pioneer member of the ICAN Ilaro and District Society. Though during the time of the inauguration of the District Society on January 29th, 2014, Baba n’as already advanced in age.

There was no time he denied us any request or assistance we required of him and, as the eldest among us, he never for once made anyone feel less to him. He was an inspiration and a rallying point for the young accountants from Yewaland who aspired to become chartered.

The late Prince was also one of the founding fathers of Abeokuta and District Society. For the record, Abeokuta and District Society sponsored the registration of Ilaro and District Society as a District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
It was reported that during his youthful and vibrant days as a member of the society, he often sponsored their meetings by providing entertainment for members present at their District meetings.

“Baba'Oba” was our, Chief Patron. In fact, before his demise, plans were in motion to hold one of our monthly meetings at his residence. But as man proposes, it’s only God that does dispose. Without mincing words, the ICAN Ilaro and District Society will greatly miss his words of wisdom, kindness and, peaceful attitude to ward life.

We know that his Solomonic wisdoin shall be inissed by L1is Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. (ESV) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle MFR, Asade Agunloye IV, the Ohr of llaro and the Paiamount Ruler of Yewaland. \Ve conimisserate with the entire Agiinloye hegenaony, the four (4) ruling lionses in Ilarö, sons and daughtes of llaro in Nigeria and diaspora.

Goodnight Double Crown, rest in peace Baba Oba.

Ogunwede, FCA, executive and the entire members of the Abeokuta and District Society of ICAN received the news of the glorious transition of Late Prince James Adedeji Olugbenle, FCA. We commiserate with the entire royal family of the departed.

Prince James Adedeji Olugbenle, FCA and the Baba Oba of Ilaro, was one of the founding members of Abeokuta and District Society of ICAN. He was such a wonderful man with passion for the district. Records have it that while he was a member of the District, he personally sponsored not only the monthly executive meetings, but the general meetings as well, was usually in the team that paid courtesy visits to relevant companies and institutions within Abeokuta District.

We, in Abeokuta and District Society of ICAN, identify with your grief at this time. We also commiserate with your family at this trying period and we pray that the Almighty God grants you and the entire family, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Like the Holy Book says, 'It is the will of God which no mortal can query'.

J.A as he was fondly called by his close acquaintances in the society, was a devout Christian, humorous to a fault, a charismatic family man and custodian of family culture, values and history, which would have earned him the “BABA OBA” OLU OF ILARO.

Prince Olugbenle was very accommodating, lively, jovial and a good mixer irrespective of.age gaps.

There is no doubt :that a rare gem is gone and will be greatly missed by many. We realize. also that his demise must have surely and regrettable created a vacuum .both in the family and community, which would be very difficult to fill.

To Kabiyesi, HRH Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle :tpd the! children, we share iii your pain of lose at this time but we pray that God will console you.

As a foun‹iing member of Christ Youth Followers, the society prayer in those early years:, 'Grant oh God, that.this society may be true Followers. of Christ, not in name.only, but in words and in Needs, through the merits of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen, served as a reminder of our resolve to serve God fervently in truth and in spirit.

Tribute from Ecosa Worldwide Family,

Farewell

It is an honor to write this tribute to a big brother, Senior School colleague, scholar, an Erudite Accountant, a friend, a Titan, Business Mogul and a Social Economic Development Icon OMO OBA JAMES ADEDEJI OLUGBENLE FCA, FCIS (7th June 1937-4th July 2021), who had left this sinful world to rest in the bosom of the Lord.

In whatever role we knew him, from whatever vantage point, he stood apart as someone special! , so, we ar gathered together, sitting down again saying goodbye to another great leader who had so much Passion for social-cultural and economic Template.

Tears are hidden when we heard news of his demise. Our heart continues to feel the pain knowing we have lost another great leader.

Omo Oba James who was an Erudite accountant had his Secondary Education in Egbado (Yewa) college Ilaro, he was a developer and a Preacher of Peace. When he was the President of Ecosa, he made so much tremendous changes, amongst which were Hockey court/lawn. Prince Adedeji Olugbenle (Double Crown) left a legacy of positive experience for anyone who took time to know him.

The Ecosa Family have lost a Great Old Student. The Prince from Royal Family of Asade Agunloye of Ilaro who left the stage when the ovation was loudest.
The entire National President, Principal Officers& Distinguished Members of Ecosa Worldwide rejoices with the Royal Family of Asade Agunloye, immediate families and the people of Ilaro because the deceased left a monumental landmark that could not be erased.

Although much too short, his, was a life well lived! He was a determined, visionary, collaborative, goal-oriented, caring person who loved life and all that it offered.

It was a privilege and honor to have him while alive as our Senior and Classmate, His personality was a force to be reckoned with.

We need to realize that you have gone to rest for the best, even though, it’s still like a misery to quite a number of us who haven’t realized you have gone to rest and never to return.

Here laid a man who Graciously served his Alma mater, who gave his whole life for everyone that crossed his path to live a meaningful life.

To his children, families, friends and associates he was blessed by God as caring, encouraging and supportive human being,
“There are many forces in life but one major force is that of death. It is an inevitable instrument that moves man from one good area to another best area”.

We shall live to remember your good work and our memories from all the days gone before that we were privileged to share with you.. and today, we’ll grieve for you and even smile because of you. Gone in some ways, but your presence is ever near.

Prince Adedeji Olugbenle --a caring and beloved family man, a cherished colleague, a scholar and friend-will be missed by many, but never will he be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have known him!

May the soul of the former Ecosa energetic, focused National President Rest in Peace, Amen.

Tribute from Prince Abodurin Oyetola Oyekanmi (Dad’s classmate at Egbado College)

Prince James Adedeji Olugbenle and I met at Egbado College, Ilaro in January 1952 with 28 other student's. Only 12 of this number got to class six. Both of us were in that class.

When I got married on December 26, 1966, he was the chairman of the wedding Programme held at St Mary's Catholic Church, Ikeja. By then he had arrived from the United Kingdom where he had qualified as an accountant.

He was a highly religious and pleasant man. We were quite close. When the Egbado Think Tank (now Yewa Think Tank) was created, we were both members. He was an industrialist as he created Double crown bread and other enterprises. He was also a strong member of Ogun State Elders' forum.

May His soul rest in Peace.

DR. AKINDE FCA
What a loss to the Agunloye family. Baba Oba was the first Chartered Accountant in Ilaro and the entire Yewa corridors.

His industrialisation might was well pronounced in Ilaro with the industry he cited, the first industry in ilaro, Double Crown which produced Breads, biscuits and other related products along Hosanna Hospital Road before Odo'ran. That portended charity begins at home.
Moreover, Baba Oba was number 1 Chartered in ICAN Ilaro and District Society. His supports and that of Agarau Odua, Oba Dr Kehinde Olugbenle, the Paramount Ruler of Yewa land during the recent ICAN Western Conference at Frontier Hotel Ilaro, where Sunny Ade displayed his musical prodigy was nonpareil and inexplicable.

So, this is an immeasurable loss to the Agunloyes, ilaro, and the entire Yewa.

Rest on Baba Oba, Oluwa yio duro ti gbogbo Agunloye ati ewun omo oba, Ase Eledua.
