     James Alexander, 78, of Marquette Heights, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Generations of Peoria.
     Mr. Alexander will lie in state at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria, on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., during such time friends may pay their respects. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
     James was born on November 26, 1941 in Chidester, AR, a son of the late Ernest and Lena (McDonald) Alexander. He married Gloria Price on March 8, 1969 in Peoria. She survives.
     He is also survived by his children, Aaron (Yvette) Alexander of San Antonio, TX, Ratonua (Craig) Rickmon of Peoria and Terrance Alexander of Peoria; siblings, Marvene White, Wilma Scott, Doris Alexander, Gloria (Darwin) Alexander, Carolyn Rice, Cynthia (Abraham) Scott, Ronald Alexander and Michael Sims, all of Peoria; and grandchildren, Breeia Little, Adrianna Alexander, Mickayla Alexander, Alexis Alexander, Isaiah Alexander, Terrelle Crawford, David Gaines Jr., Isaac Alexander and Jada Rickmon.
     James worked at Caterpillar for thirty years. He retired in 2000. He loved to ride motorcycles, go fishing, watch Western movies and play darts. He liked driving anywhere. He listened to Blues and any old songs. His favorite sport was his grandchildren’s basketball games and his favorite place to be was anywhere he could spend time with his family and friends. His family is proud of him for being a great dad. They described him as a loving man, who loved kids and sweets. He taught them many valuable lessons, especially to several of his grandchildren, whom he helped raise.
