James Elmos “Buck Red” Beck, 80, a longtime resident of Granville County, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC.

A native of Wake County, the son of the late Elmos and Mattie Holloway Beck, a retired Volunteer Fireman of the Creedmoor Fire Department, serving as Assistant Chief, a retired farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by Rev. Thomas Lamm.  Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor, NC.

Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Grace T. Beck of the home, a daughter, Connie Elliott (Van) of Creedmoor, a sister, Dera Estes of Wake Forest and four grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a son, Mike Beck.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 8:30 PM, Monday evening, April 30, 2012 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor, NC.

They left out that "Buck Red" whom is my grandfather, also had a great granddaughter Jaymee Renaye Downey that he left behind which will be 2 on December of 2012. But I am sure no one even knew about her or his other grand children that they do not "claim" anymore being that my beautiful daughter became part of their family.

Mr. Beck was a wonderful man. When I first started working in Creedmoor in 1996 I worked with Mr. Beck a lot. He was the nicest person and always brought a smile to my face. His wife, family, and friends have lost a treasure. He will be missed by all. RIP Mr. Beck.

Mr. Beck was a wonderful man. When I first started working in Creedmoor in 1996 I worked with Mr. Beck a lot. He was the nicest person and always brought a smile to my face. His wife, family, and friends have lost a treasure. He will be missed by all. RIP Mr. Beck.
