Mr. James “Dan” George, 63 year old resident of Lanett died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital.

Mr. George was born Thursday, March 3, 1949, in West Point, Georgia, the son of the late Jessie James and Mary Watts George.  He attended Valley High School and served in the U. S. Army as a Specialist 4.  Mr. George worked for West Point Stevens, Lanett Mill, for 41 years.  He was of the Baptist Faith.  Mr. George loved to hunt and fish, work in his garden and was an avid Alabama, Roll Tide, fan.  He loved his family and they loved him, especially his grandchildren and his 3 dogs.

Mr. George is survived by his wife, Linda R. George of Lanett; one daughter, Stacey (Bubba) Williams of West Point; 2 sons, Jamie Lowery of Lanett and Michael (Toni) Lowery of Valley; 2 sisters, Marilyn (Preston) Butler of West Point and Elizabeth (Chuck) Britt of Gainesville, Georgia; one brother, Bobby George of Lanett; 3 grandchildren, Kamryn Lowery, Justin Lowery and Logan Britt.

Funeral services for Mr. George will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 11:00 AM EDT room the graveside in Resthaven Memory Gardens.  Reverend Brad Reed will officiate.  The family will greet friends Friday evening, September 21, 2012, from 6:00 PM EDT until 8:00 PM EDT at McCarthy Funeral Home.
