James Howard Dickerson, age 83, of Oxford, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 in his home on Fairport Road. He was the son of the late Mack and Mary Tippett Dickerson. He was a contractor for sixty years. He took great pride in building and creating with his hands.

He also was a farmer all of his life. He loved his land and his pond, he love to fish whether he had a catch of the day or not. He enjoyed his cattle and horses.

He was devoted to his family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, January 2, 2012 at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church by Pastor Bruce Brooks and Dr. Talmage Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 

Surviving are his wife if sixty-one years, Margaret Smith Dickerson, five children, Wanda Sykes(Phillip) of Enfield, Lisa Dickerson of Richmond, VA., Beverly(Charles) Faulkner, Howard Jr., Scott(Jane) Dickerson, all of Oxford, five grandchildren, Phillip and Laura Sykes, Jason Faulkner, Blair and Mary Dickerson and a brother, Titus Dickerson of Wake Forest.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.  Omission of flowers is requested and memorials may be made to Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church, c/o Franklin Frazier, 4149 Sawmill Road, Oxford, NC 27565 Visitation 11:30-1:00 PM Monday, January 2, 2012 at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
