Funeral service will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 at W.E. Lusain Funeral Home and Crematory (2060 Germantown Street/Dayton, OH). Visitation will begin at 11:00am and service to follow at 12:00pm. Interment at New Greencastle Cemetery. 

James Edward Herman born January 16, 1958 accepted the hand of the God and was called home to be with the Lord May 2, 2023. James was born in Columbus Ohio to Gladys and Pearl Herman, the 5th of 9 children. After moving to Dayton he attended Highview Hills and Dunbar High School and later went into the military as a chef. After living life on his own terms James gave his life to Christ and was baptized and started living a life for Christ. James had a heart of generosity and was a man that loved his family. James was a loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, uncle, and Friend who will truly be missed.

James was preceded in death by his father and mother Pearl and Gladys Herman, brothers Dwight Brandon, Michael Herman, Jeffery Herman, Douglas Banks, sister Danise Herman, aunt Margie Banks, and fiancé Carmela Boston.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughter Naquana Nikki Rogers (Michael), grandchildren Traymond Boykin (Keyaira), Tayvion Boykin (Makayla), Taniyah Nelson, Tyquan Nelson, Paris Millerton, and Ariah Ponder, and one great granddaughter Ta’Kayla Boykin. Brothers Charles and John Herman (Charolett) , Eric Lehner, sister Marcella Herman and good friends Jimmy , and Terry Little.
