This memorial website was created in memory of James E Johnson, Sr, who fell asleep in death on Saturday, May 1, 2021 after a brief battle with Leukemia. He affected so many lives; too many to count. So a vast number of extended family members and dear friends also mourn this great loss with us. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him.
Please contribute to this memorial by leaving a tribute, words of encouragement, or a story about your memories and fine moments of the times you spent with him and how he impacted your life.
If you would like to support us by attending his virtual memorial service, which will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm over Zoom, please reach out to one of our family members personally or to someone in his congregation so that we can get that information to you.
At this time, we as a family, wish to express deep gratitude for the support and encouraging words provided to us by all of you during this extremely difficult loss. We all look forward to the time when Jehovah God 'will wipe out every tear...and death will be no more'.  - Revelation 21:4

I have known James since I was a very little girl. I always loved to spend the weekends with him and Denise. James loved his family so much. They were always his main priority. I grew up watching him serve as an elder in our congregation, Lafayette Park. He was always easy to talk to and reliable. I enjoyed working with him in the ministry also. Wade and I were their neighbors on Allendale Road for 8 years and we looked out for each other. He was like a big brother to me and will be dearly missed. I look forward to seeing again very soon in Jehovah's righteous New World. Revelation 21:4

We are all mourning the loss with you. The sting of death is never easy but we certainly hold onto the hope of the resurrection. James made a good name with Jehovah and I am sure he is in His memory. Until the time when we can welcome him back to a paradise earth, may you all find comfort in the fond memories you have and in the encouragement you receive from your family and friends. May Jehovah continue to give you peace during this difficult time. "Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted." (Psalms 34:18)

Nothing cuts a human heart deeper than the pain of losing a loved one. But nothing heals it like the hope we have for the future. Each hour, day, month, and year that we endure brings us closer to the time when we will be able to welcome him back with open arms. May Jehovah continue to daily give you the strength you need to hold on just a little longer. The New World is right around corner, and we can all make it there together. :)

Family, our hearts are so broken right now along with yours. This is truly a sad occasion for us all. Jehovah God knows how painful this is and will continue to be in the days and weeks to come. May you continue to be surrounded by family and friends so that you can get the support that you need during this extremely difficult time. And may Jehovah God keep you in his loving care. "May Jehovah bless you and safeguard you. May Jehovah make his face shine upon you, and may he favor you. May Jehovah lift up his face toward you and grant you peace." - Numbers 6:24-26

James and I always had a good relationship although at the time he married my sister I was only 6yrs old. As the spoiled youngest, it was hard seeing her leave home. But as I entered teenage years and adulthood, he and I built a relationship that would allow me to see him more as a brother than an in-law. We sang together, played ball together, grew as friends and we laughed ALOT! I will miss him greatly but I’m so happy our trust in Jehovah was the same most importantly. That trust keeps us connected although for this short time he’s gone. It’s still surreal but I’m glad it was him that came into our family and I’ll be beyond words with joy when the time comes to welcome him back.

I had recently moved to Baltimore and it was my first day working for Solomon Howard. It was James, Tyrone Whitehead and myself. We went out to exterminate houses. James was explaining house to do it and we had a good time all day long as though we knew each other. When we split up to go to separate houses, he made sure that I was accounted for before leaving the area. At the end of the day I was dropped off first and be saw that I was safely inside before leaving. I always liked him from that first encounter. I always admired him for being a manly guy.
