James Graham Wright, 91, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Universal Healthcare.

A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late James Gray Wright and Lizzie Williams Wright. He was of the Baptist faith, he served as a medic in World War II and served in Burma with Col. Seagroves. He worked at Oxford National, Planters National and Central Carolina Bank and retired with forty-three years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Oxford Lions Club serving as treasurer for many years as well as treasurer of the Flat River Baptist Association. He served on the Vance Granville Board of Health for many years, was a member of the V.F.W. and was an avid golfer.

Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford by Rev. Cameron Currin. Burial will be private.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years, Aleine Holcomb Wright of the home, two sons; James Gray Wright, II (Dorothea) of Rocky Mount, Steven Lindsay Wright (Marguerite) of Oxford, two granddaughters; Lori W. Hill and Heather M. Wright, three grandsons; Scott Wright, Marcus Wright and Steven Wright and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Wright.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 21, 2014 from 9:30 – 11:00 prior to the service at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times, the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Carolina Lions Foundation in care of Oxford Lions Club, P.O. Box 303 Oxford, N.C. 27565.

Mr. Wright, as I always called him, was one of the kindest men I ever knew. Thanks for being a super Boy Scout leader for Troop 686, for being a great service to our community, a fun person to play golf with, but most of all--the Christian man you were!

Mr. Wright will forever be remembered for his kindness and warm smile. A true gentleman that will be greatly missed. God blessed Oxford with Mr. Wright and has now called him home for his reward. May he rest peacefully.

I have never known a more kinder man than Mr. Wright.
My mom and I are both very sad to hear of his passing.

Mr. Wright was such a wonderful man! He helped so many people in Oxford and I appreciated him so much.  He will truly be missed and may he rest in peace!!
