The family of James Ingerham, of Port Charlotte, Florida and formerly Columbus, Ohio, is saddened to announce that after a battle with cancer,
James went to be with the Lord on Thursday December 1, 2016. He was surrounded by family, friends and lots of prayer.
James also known as Jimmy, Sweet Baby James, Chap, Coach and many more was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 28, 1959 to Marilyn and Fred Ingerham.
He was preceded in death by his mother Marilyn on June 10, 1988.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Cozi; Children, Todd, Josh, Courtney (Bryan) Gibson, Alicia, and Ben; Grandchildren, Jordan, Lexy, Anthony, Breanna, Ty, Joey, Nick, Landon, and Liam; Parents, Fred (Toni) Ingerham; Siblings, Jodi (James) Chamberlain, Jill (Bobby) Gavin, Paul (Darcy) McPherson, Kathleen (Tim) Weaver, and Karen (Bobby) Neal.
James was an over comer and anyone that knew him knew that he had overcame a lot in his lifetime. He was excited with the accomplishments that he was able to achieve.
James turned his life over to the Lord in 1998 and with all his passion and determination through Christ he opened his first inner city ministry, Jericho’s, in Columbus, Ohio. James met his soul mate and best friend Cozi there and they were united in Marriage on February 14, 2009.
James went on to get his masters degree in Christian Ministry.
James and Cozi moved to Florida in 2010 to continue to minister to others. James worked as a Chaplain at Moorehaven Correctional Facility and a Substance Abuse Counselor at The Bridges of America in Bradenton. James also was a Pastor for Second Chance Recovery House in Port Charlotte.
James played football in college and he loved and missed it, so he devoted a lot of his time to volunteer as one of the coaches and chaplain for the Florida Stingray’s Semi-Pro Football Team.
He loved to help others and was always there for anyone without judging to help them any way he could. He would literally give the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his wallet to help someone in need. The doctor said that he had an enlarged heart and I believe he truly did. I do not think there is one person that he met that his loving spirit did not touch in some way.
He will be greatly missed by so many!
Please join us for a memorial service to celebrate his life and wonderful spirit Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 4:30pm at the Life Port Church, 390 Flamingo Blvd., Port Charlotte, Florida, and on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Veritas Community Church, 12 S Terrace Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43204.
