James Larry Ellington, 64, passed from this life unexpectedly on March 13, 2015. Larry was a lifelong resident of Granville County. He was a kind, gentle, and giving person who was loved by many. He enjoyed “tinkering” on cars and tractors, working in the yard, and helping others whenever he was given the opportunity.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and Clement Ellington, his sister Hilda Rose, and his nephew Ralph Ellington, Jr. He is survived by his life partner of forty plus years, Ann Hart, brothers Jackie, Howard, Fred (Barbara), Ralph (Judy), and Donnie as well as one sister Diane White (Ricky). He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and, although he had no children, Larry and Ann shared a special relationship with their niece, Kimberly Stovall.

The family will receive friends at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford, NC on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at Eakes Funeral Home followed by internment at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Berea, NC with the Reverend Keith Williams presiding. Pallbearers will include Donald Denny, Richard Baird, Shelton Englebright, Charlie Norwood, David Adcock, and Kenny Cox. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Larry’s name.
