James Robert Wrenn “Bobby” 85, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, N.C.

A native of Person County, he was the son of the late Austin and Minerva Wrenn. Bobby was of the Baptist Faith and was a retired Prison Guard in Granville County with thirty years of service. He served his Country in the Korean War earning a Purple Heart.

A Memorial service with Military Rites will be held at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, July 6, 2017 by Rev. Steve Brown. Visitation will be from 11:00 – 12:30 prior to the Memorial Service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-five years, Beatrice Wrenn; son, James Austin Wrenn (Robbie); daughter, Ruby Stine (Marty) all of Oxford; two sisters, Mae Walker, Martha Zimmerman and two brothers, Larry Wrenn and Johnny Wrenn all of Roxboro; three grandchildren, Christopher Zook, Courtney Jean Garbett, Morgan Wrenn and great-grandchildren, Sabrina Parker, Nicholas Parker, Brianna Zook, Alandra Zook, and Christopher Zook, Jr. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Lorrie Ann Zook and James Walter “J.W.” Wrenn.

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Wrenn for many years at Granville Correctional Center. He was a kind and generous coworker who always spoke with pride and love about his family. I am sorry for your loss and know he will be greatly missed.
