Homegoing services will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 at Bethesda Temple (3701 Salem Ave/ Dayton Oh, 45406). Visitation will begin at 11:00am and service to follow at 12:00pm. Interment at Jeffersonview Cemetery. 

James Robert Morrow, Sr., was born on December 20, 1942 in Chattaroy, West Virginia, to the late Thomas and Carrie Morrow. He went home to be with of the Lord on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton.

The family relocated to Dayton, Ohio when he was a young child.  He attended Dayton Public Schools, graduating from Dunbar High School, Class of 1962. He retired from General Motors, Harrison Radiator Division with over 30 years of service.

Elder Morrow was a faithful and dedicated member of the Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church since 1971. He served as a Minister and Associate Pastor.  Pastor Morrow also served as Sunday School Superintendent of the Junior Department, where he was actively involved with the young people arranging trips to COSI, Kings Island and other group outings. He was recognized by the City of Dayton for Bethesda’s Young People’s role in the city’s Beautification Projects. He was a true prayer warrior, he facilitated the Tuesday Prayer Band service for several years, the Sunday six a.m. and Noon day prayer services until the pandemic closure. He served as Pastor over the Care Ministry, where he visited the sick and shut-in faithfully, along with Pastor Teresa Reed, all it took was a phone call or knowledge of someone being ill or in the hospital. He was a member of the Overcomers Sunday School Class, the Sound and Church Security Teams.

Pastor Morrow loved his family, he did an admirable job raising his children for several years as a single father.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Robert Morrow, Jr.; brothers, Thomas, Nathaniel, and Clifford; sisters, Yvonne, Christine and Arnetta; grandson Devontae Morrow.

Left to cherish precious memories: Five children, Michelle, Karla, Elder William T. (Shaton), Shawn and Geanine; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Two sisters, Mary Olden and Josephine Hale; Goddaughter, Azizah Morrison; Special Friends, Bro. Ernest Henry and District Elder Garfield Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and the Bethesda Temple Church Family.

Professional services entrusted to W.E. Lusain Funeral Home and Crematory.

There are not enough words to explain how much you are loved. Thank you so very much for being such an awesome person. Thank you so very much for being a wonderful grandfather.
