I remember what a true gentleman Jim is. I admire him for his can do attitude and his hard work ethic. I remember the meat pie stories. Rest in peace JIm. May we all try to be a little more kind to others and work hard as we remember this wonderful man.

I’ll always remember Jim’s smile. Despite suffering ill health for many years, he was always cheerful and positive when I met him. We’re thinking of you all at this sad time and wish we could be there to give you a hug. All our love, Paula, Stuart, Katie and Tom xxxx

Helen spoke very highly and fondly of her father as a husband to her mother, a father to herself and her sister, a father-in-law and a grandfather. I am very sorry to hear about his passing but looking at the photos he truly achieved the most important thing in his life - love and happiness. With sincere wishes to the whole family from Sandra, Paul, Elizabeth, Tom and Boo xxxxx

Words are so inadequate at a time like this but that wonderful smile on such a wonderful man is what I will always remember about Jim, and his great sense of humour. He had a great love of life and that will live on in all of you. My love and sincere condolences to you all and the biggest hugs ever. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Jim was one of the best! All our love, Norma & El xxx

Whether it was the Morecambe connection or the similarity in looks, Uncle Jim was always synonymous with Eric Morecambe to me! Was it the specs? The shape (!) The wicked sense of humour? Or the fact we spent most Christmas afternoons at his house, playing beetle, drinking iliicit under-age snowballs and watching Morecambe and Wise on the TV (obligatory Xmas viewing back in the 60s and 70s)

This doesn't allow you enough space! To continue. Uncle Jim was the life and soul of the party, such great fun. His party piece was turning me upside down - which he did for the last time at my wedding in 1984! My earliest memory was of him playing Santa Claus when I was about 3 ..I still remember singing to him and getting a paint set! Will be very sadly missed - but led life to the full
