His Life

Born in Phenix City, AL, Mr. Starkes was the son of Champ, Sr. and Lillian Lawrence Starkes. He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Lewis Starkes who preceded him in death. He retired following 30 years as a mechanic with the General Motors Company, and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ft. Mitchell, AL. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherrie Lynne Starkes, and seven siblings, Willie C. Starkes, Champ Starkes, Jr., Dr. Mary S. Harper, Lillian Starkes, Daniel Starkes, Melvin Starkes and Andrew Starkes.

Surviving his departure with cherished memories, include: three daughters, Pannetta L. Mott, Tracey Gonzales and Felicia Starkes Knapp (Charles D.); three grandchildren, Keyaunah Starkes, Kenneth Roberson and Syniah Knapp; one great grandchild, Liam Elon Williams ; a brother, Clifford Rutledge; loving in-laws, Annie M. Forte and Virginia "Shirley" Robinson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
