James Tyler Houser, known to many as Buddy, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.  He was 86 years old and resided in Bristol, TN for the majority of his life.  

James was born March 24, 1931 in Bristol, TN, a son of the late Raymond and Opal Garrison Houser.  He lived in the Bristol area most of his life, where he had been a school teacher for 49 years.  Mr. Houser was a veteran of the US Air Force, having faithfully served his country in the Korean War.  He was a member of Meadowview Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Houser was preceded in death by his sisters, Gloria Rutter and Lorraine Hall.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Victoria Morison Houser, daughter, Molly Virginia Houser, son, Raymond Kyle Houser & wife Heather, granddaughter, Holly Savannah Houser and several nieces and nephews. 

Jim passed away holding hands with his wife Vicki and daughter Molly at the Wellmont Hospice House.  He spent 2 weeks at Bristol Regional Medical Center receiving care prior to his passing.  We would like to deeply thank the staff at both facilities for providing such excellent, compassionate care. 

A memorial service for Mr. Houser will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Saturday, prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 137 MLK Jr Blvd., Bristol, TN 37620 or donate to a food pantry of your choice.

I miss you James T. You were my sister's best friend, husband, confidant and partner and I love you for that. Your children are amazing. You were always lending a helping hand and a smile to those in need. Your life was one well lived and your legacy has made an impact in this world.
