ObituaryJames Dean Dickson

May 13, 2005 - September 9, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the accidental passing of James Dean Dickson at the age of 15.

Born May 13, 2005, he was the youngest son of James (Jimmy) and Tasha Dickson.  James grew up too fast.  He was beyond his 15 years.  He was born into a family of four older brothers, one of which was twenty four years old and three teenagers.  He was the fearless one of the five and by the time he could crawl if they were into a wrestling match, he would join in.  By the time he could walk he thought what they could do, he could do also!  If it was stunting at the bike park, driving a four-wheeler, skidooing or fishing, he was there.  Because of having older brothers he always had older friends.  His uncle Wade was his idol.  Up until three years ago, you could find them at the outdoor skating rink, bowling, mini-putt, car races, biking, and watching videos.  He’d call Wade every day to see what was up next!  James would say “I’m Wade’s shadow you know!”

At the age of six when his grandmother told him he couldn’t use the “weed-whacker” as he called it, or the lawn mower unless she was with him, he told her “I’m six now and you’re too overprotective!”

James was a student at James M. Hill Memorial High School, was a member on the Tommies basketball team, and also the Miramichi Twins ball team.  His main passions were fishing trout with his brother Cody and his friends, biking, four-wheeling and skidooing.

Besides his parents, James is survived by four brothers:  David (Jennifer), Jesse, Ronnie, and Cody (Taylor); his paternal grandmother Nora Dickson; his maternal grandmother Trish Dembenski; and his maternal grandfather Ronnie Malley; uncles:  Wade, Brent (Wade) Dickson, Chris Oake; two nieces:  Whitney and Victoria Dickson; one nephew Cohen Dickson; two special friends whom were like brothers:  Matt Clark and Jacob Collette; several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins;  and his godparents Cindy and Walter Vautour.  He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather Wilburn Dickson.

A PUBLIC visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM.  A PRIVATE funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. David Allan officiating.  Music for the service was provided by David Mann and the hymns were:  “Jesus, Friend of Little Children”, “Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and “In The Bulb There Is a Flower.  The scripture readings were read by June Dickson and Tammy O’Neill.

Pallbearers were Jame's beloved brothers:  David, Jesse, Ronnie and Cody Dickson, and his special friends Matt Clark and Jacob Collette.  Interment was held in the Black River Community Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB

I remember a young man who was full speed ahead from the get go. You had a devilish twinkle in your eye and kept your mom busy keeping you reigned in. You loved your family, friends, sports, fishing and anything on wheels. You left life far too early for the people you left behind. My hope is you are still going full speed ahead with the water running in the brook, the wind blowing through the trees and sparkle in the night sky.
