In a recent exchange with our brother, James, I wrote "Feel we'll always have a deep connection."
I know he made a deep connection with so many. While you're reading this, you may be experiencing some sadness, which I'm confident is kept company by the laughter & delight we've all enjoyed with our gentle brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin & friend.
As Helen Keller so beautifully wrote: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us."
I am so grateful for my Skamur, sharing himself, his time, his palpable passions, enlightened encouragements, expansive conversations, clever comedic creations, learned perceptions, & his Sound Anarchy. He turned me on to musical legends local & far flung; from Billy Hector, to Clarence Gatemouth Brown & Midnight Oil. He afforded me countless opportunities to experience a wide breadth of arts up close. He broadened my mental & spiritual horizons thru BAI, FMU & my new family at PRN.live, where they never screen their callers & value everyone's contributions, just like James
He truly loved connecting people. His 'more crayons' optimism, when faced with broken crayons, is reflected in his favourite colour: rainbow!
He reached so many lives with his gracious giving. From neighbors in our hometown of Oak Ridge, & in South Orange, Newark, Maplewood, Orange & Nutley; schoolmates in Sparta & at SHU in South Orange; co-workers at SHU Law School, Nabisco, St Barnabas...; Bottomfeeders Ultimate frisbee folk; & fellow volunteers at New Jersey Peace Action ~ he has touched so many.
I envision our grandparents, parents, Aunts, Uncles, Mike & Ronnie, Mikie Goforth,Rafael, Amoryl, & sometimes cuddly and companions ~ Toopee, Neebly Beebly Bop, Susu, ChiChu, GobbyHead & countless others greeting him in the Great Beyond!
I'm intending to honour James each day, as I actively choose the same gentleness, patience, kindness & gratitude he evinced, in my exchanges with our wondrous planet & it's denizens.
May we all reflect on Jim's many gifts to each of us, & carry those feelings & the love, & continue to harmonize with his lovely being
