Jan was born on May 8th, 1948 in Bromma, Stockholm. He was the younger of two boys who went on to complete his electrical engineering degree. In 1969, he began his career as a test engineer at Ericsson in Sweden.  Jan spent some time in Texas before moving to California where he joined Power Integrations in 1989 as the first test engineer in the company.   He spent the next 25 years doing what he loved at Power Integrations and mentoring many engineers along the way. He was happiest when he was on the tester or remote logging into the tester from his office.  During the latter part of his career, he decided to spend 3 to 4 month each year in Sweden caring for his ailing mother. Jan retired from Power Integrations in 2015 after 25 years of service. In his retirement, Jan would extend his stay in Sweden for up to 6 months per year.  He enjoyed driving to San Francisco for leisurely day trip, got his daily exercise by walking to Fry’s Electronic (Jan’s favorite store) and was in the process of searching for a sizable home away from the buzzling Silicon Valley where he would be a few acres away from his closest neighbor and there would not be any traffic when he needs to go to Safeway.  He also enjoyed watching movies after his retirement.

The descendant of Jan is Erik Dwyer, who is 29 years old and currently living in Minnesota.
