ForeverMissed

In the wee hours of May 8, 2017, our adorable mother passed away. I was with her all week long, and was able to say my goodbyes in the most beautiful way. Absolutely nothing was left unsaid. It's all made more tolerable because we know she is now where she has wanted to be for a long time. And she is finally free of the frail body that was failing her so. Knowing she is free helps our heart, but the tears still flow. We love you, mom. You are our sweet angel.

There will be an intimate memorial service for friends and immediate family.  We invite everyone to pay respects by sharing memories on this site.

Janelle and I were very good friends living in Melrose. We did our early morning walks together for 15 to 20 years. We walked a mile out and then a mile back and in that time we had solved a lot of the world's problems, the city's problems and anything else that needed discussing. We really enjoyed these times and became the best of friends. I wished we could have lived closer together the last 2 years and continued our visiting. Janelle was a really fine person and everyone in Melrose loved her. From Betty Burleson

Kathy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. May your find comfort in Janell's legacy and the love she left behind. Take comfort that you will see her again, and may God grant His peace to all of you.

Janell brought laughter into a room. She had such a fun and "quirky" personality. I'm really not sure if everyone laughed with her or at her, I just know we laughed! She was so much fun to be around. I miss you momma! I love you! See you later...

Janell's Life Journey

June 13, 2017

Janell’s grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. W.M. Pack in the year 1906, traveled from Chickasha Oklahoma in covered wagons to homestead in New Mexico. They took their five children Lena, John, Jim, Pete, and Tince Howard with them on this long and difficult journey. The land was dry where they settled. Water had to be hauled a great distance to their campsite. Food was also scarce. Mr. Pack was afraid of losing his horses, so they loaded up the kids and went back to Oklahoma.

Five more children were born to this union. Lucille, Stoney, Dorothy, Bessie, and George. In 1930 W.M. Pack, left behind his five eldest children, and headed back to New Mexico with the five youngest. He settled down with his wife and five kids on a farm west of Portales.

In 1934, Janell’s Father, Tince Howard, joined his mother and dad in Portales. He traveled with his wife Lula Mae (Ikard) Pack and their three children, Howard, Janell, and Joy. Tince set up an automotive shop there.

The sixth son Jerry, married Sami Jo Valliant. They raised their son, John David, in Amarillo Texas.

After serving in World War II, Stoney, (W.M.’s sixth son), married Margie Clark and moved to Melrose New Mexico. They settled on a farm north of Melrose. They had two children Karen and Johnny. Karen married Dan Britten of Melrose. They made their home in Albuquerque NM. Johnny who served in the US Army lives in Socorro NM with his wife Mary.

In 1939 W.M. moved with his wife to Melrose and lived until their death. (W.M.) died in 1965 at age 93. His wife passed in 1967 at the age of 87.   They are both buried in the Melrose Cemetery beside their son George who was killed in a car accident in 1965 in California.
