ForeverMissed

Janelle Price died on her 38th wedding anniversary after celebrating with her beloved husband Jerry.  They enjoyed an amazing life together.  She left an incredible legacy to her 3 childen and 5 grand children.  The night of her death she went out to a movie, enjoyed her favorite chocolates and drank a bit of wine to celebrate.  She fell asleep on the couch without pain or struggle.

Janelle had retired from teaching four years ago and settled into a 5 acre farm in Ellensburg WA.  She enjoyed riding her bike, taking walks with her dog Binabak, gardening, camping, traveling and had recently gotten into quilting.

She lived a complete life having achieved many of her life's goals.  She was our family's matriarch in every sense and she will be missed.

She will continue to inspire us.

We love you!

We will miss Janelle and all the time we spent together as friends. So many good times! But, she was also the best teacher Patrick could have as a kindergartner. She encouraged and had a wide range of activities but left him alone to explore on his own.

We are shocked and saddened to hear about Janelle's passing. She was a loving, dedicated and gifted teacher who gave Paddy and hundreds of other Stillwater kids such a great start in their education. Happy memories of her love of the outdoors with those fun camping and fishing trips in Eastern Washington and Yellowstone with all the kids. All our love and thoughts are with you.

My heart dropped when I found out about Janelle. The news saddened me so. My oldest son had Janelle for 1st grade and then Jerry for 4th grade. They were both so awesome! And they even allowed our family to come visit their new home in Ellensburg shortly after they moved in. It was truly an honor to know her and to have her as an educator. My deepest sympahties to the Price family.

I didn't get the fortune of having Mrs. Price as a teacher, but I'm lucky to say Jerry's class remains a favorite to this day. I don't remember ever seeing either of them without a smile on their faces. May her qualities of warmth, benevolence, and compassion shine on through her family, friends, and students. Love and prayers to the Price family.

I don't think there are enough words to express how sad this news is for our family. Both of my kids had Janelle for first grade, and she and Jerry were both big parts of their elementary school lives. Janelle so loved her family, I know she will always be in your hearts, as she is in all of ours. Blessings and prayers for you. ~ Sharon, Dalen, Emma & Evan

Now, I have the privilege to be teach in her old classroom and often see her name on books and manuals through-out. You are thought of often and will be missed dearly!

I cried when I read the email last week about Janelle. I still remember that she called every family the first week of first grade to see how each child was doing. My son Max adored her and did not want to leave her class. I used to volunteer between her class and my other twins right next door. I got to know her fairly well. She had a way of making each child feel special.

First Grade "Anxiety"

January 7, 2013

My son would be sooo embarrased if he ever saw me post this story but thank god with the help of Mrs. Price and her teacher-patience, our little boy overcame a big "anxiety" hurdle.

For some reason, our son got a bit of anxiety near the beginning of first grade and had some "potty" accidents at school.  Mrs. Price was very gentle on the down-low and would let me know and try not to alert the news to the other children.

In the midst of trying to cure this "incontinence", one of the things that was suggested by the doctors was that he go to the bathroom every half hour to an hour whether he had to go or not.  Bless Janelle's heart, she stopped what she was doing in class and made sure she made the time to go and send our son off to the restroom whether he had to go or not.

All got cured in a short amount of time and class was back to normal for my son and Janelle.

Jerry was already briefed on my son by Janelle before he entered his class.  It was a great time!

First grade memories and traditions

January 5, 2013

Every mother who was lucky enough to have a child in Janelle's first grade class, remembers the mother's day tea she held for us.  The kids sang to us, told us stories, had created little mementos of why they loved their moms (because we make chococlate chip cookies!  Of course!).  Most of us were in tears by the end, it was a special day.

And every winter, Janelle's class made graham cracker gingerbread houses with royal icing.  I remember Janelle handing me bags of powdered sugar, giving me a wry grin of "Sorry!" and sending me off to make frosting - lots and lots of frosting.  I think we were all covered in white by the time the kids were done.  I did it again with my second child, and was again covered in white.  And I remember at least once in later years having another parent track me down in another class:  Janelle told her to find me, because I knew how to make the frosting they needed!  It was such a tradition, and the kids loved it.

I will always feel her joy and see the twinkle in her eye.

Parent Volunteer

January 2, 2013

I remember I just did not like making those little books.  Janelle would always have something else I could do for my hour, or she would ask what I wanted to do.  One day I brought my neighbors puppy in for show and tell.  She asked me to take the puppy down and show it to her husband Jerry and tell him she wanted one when she retired.  I read that she did have a dog, so I'm glad she time to enjoy the companionship.  I also remember when they still lived in town I would always see them out in the dark walking with their headlamps.  Having twins, I had one in Mrs. Price's class and one in Mrs's Keefe's right next door.  I felt priviliged really because both teachers kind of teamed to keep me informed on the two boys.  On the last day of school I took her a mint plant. She always drank tea and was so excited to have fresh mint for her tea.
I'm so glad I had the opportunity to know her and work in her class.
