Janet was born and raised in Howell, Michigan.  She graduated from Howell High School in 1976, completed coursework at Lansing Community College, and went on to complete cosmetology training at the Howell School of Cosmetology.  Janet was employed by the Capital Area Transportation Authority.


Following marriage, Janet became the mom of Ashley Elizabeth, the most important person in her life.


Janet enjoyed people and enjoyed life.  Her sense of humor saw her through many challenges, including the challenges of cancer.  She transitioned from this world enveloped in the hope and confidence of John 11:25-26:  "I am the resurrection and the life:  he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.  And whoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die".
