I know I wrote to Janice already, however, this is to Bob, Charlotte, Richard and Robert.
Your wife Bob and your mother Charlotte, Richard and Robert was my best friend for forty plus years. She was such a caring person and loved her family with all her being. She was so creative and talented in many ways. She loved making things for her family and yes for me too. She always remembered my birthday and special occasions with a card. She was truly a great friend. I am very lucky to have had such a great friend and I shall miss her every day. A few days before she passed I had spoken to her and she had said she was so glad to talk with me because she could forget her pain for awhile. I had no idea that would be our last conversation. You are all so very lucky you had that terrific woman in your life. You were truly blessed. I am also blessed to have had her in my life for all those years. She would not want you to be sad but to be happy and live life as if she were still with you. She has no more pain and is walking on the streets of heaven looking down upon all of us and saying dry your tears and think of me with happiness. Love to all of you Marie

Hello Janice my wonderful friend of forty plus years. I think of you every day since you left us. I miss our sometimes very long telephone calls and our political conversation along with remembering our past recollections.  You were like my sister. We had sooooo much in common. Funny how on some days I would be feeling low and think I should call you and be darned if the phone wouldn't ring and it would be you. Other times I'd call you and you'd say you were feeling a little low and thought I should call Marie and low and behold your phone would ring and it would be me. We'd both tell each other how much we needed to talk on those occasions. Bob and Charlotte and the rest of your family miss you too. They are getting along better now. Just remember my dear friend you are truly missed and still very loved. I hope you saw my beloved daughter Jeannette and told her how much I love her and truly miss her. Well, Janice, I guess I better close this and do something even if it's wrong. I miss you so very much. Love you always and go on remembering our wonderful conversations. Love Marie

My heart hurts and sings at the same time for those left behind. She was such a loving, amazing woman I know there seems to be a huge void. But on the other hand Janice is free of pain and rejoicing on heavens streets of gold! Her smiles, Christmas letters and sweet words will be missed. She may be gone for now but never forgotten! Hugs of love to the family!

What an amazing woman. Her love knew no bounds, her stories were epic, and she was always a safe place to be yourself. I will carry her in my heart for the rest of my life. Thank you Charlotte and Richard for sharing her with me for all those years. ❤️

                  When I'm Gone
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken;
Remember some good I have done,
Forget that I ever had a heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun.
Forget that I have stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought
Some hard battles and won,
Ere the close of the day,
Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay
And come in the evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west,
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.

I am truly sorry to hear of the Passing of Janice. I remember her sage advice about long marriages and get passed the angry sweaty armpits to 3 work exchanges. I have happy memories of her and of course Charlottes awesome hair colors.

I met Janice when I went to her travel agency in 1996. I was honored to be able to take care of her once as her nurse.  She was the most delightful person I've ever met and I was honored to be her friend. She never forgot my wedding anniversary. Love and Prayers, Londra Fleming, RN

Her Life
April 11, 2019

We celebrate the life our our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother Janice Maydene Garlick Cook.

Janice was born in Orovill, CA in 1938. She was the third and only surviving child of Forrest Alton and Olive Marie Smith Garlick; her siblings died in infancy.

She married Robert Gene cook in August 1958 and is survivred by her husband and their three children, Robert F Cook, Charlotte L Cook and Richard B Cook.

Our mother loved her family dearly; she always told us "you kids are the greatest thing I've ever done". She had a way of making each of us feel special. Love was the currency she would spend on us, which she spent generously, sacrificing her own happiness for the sake of ours.

Janice had a vibrant life filled with laughter, family and good friends. She enjoyed hosting parties and liked to make her own fancy dressed in the latest styles for the occasion. She loved to dance and sing and fill our home with music. Some of her favorite songs to sing to her children to lull them to sleep was "you are my sunshine" and "over the rainbow".

She fostered and cherished friendships the way some might admire jewels; she loved litening and sharing the converstions or stories of her friends latest adventure. Every endeavor Janice undertook wether it be enlisting in the Airforce, moving from California to Alaska, or becoming an entreprenuer would reward her a new gem of a friend; she loved them all and felt their love in return.

Janice cherished the simple things in life like a morble, and old coin, unique seashells, colorful rocks and pictures of family and friends. Those trinkets are spread about giving long-lasting, sweet memories of a life well lived.

A NEW DAY

Dusk falls...and I close my eyes

to wake to a bright new tomorrow.

Gone are...the labors of life ,the

futility of strife, and the lingering trauma of sorrow.

Dawn breaks...adn I clearly see

A new day of heavenly creation

Fresh with new hope, renewed faith

and good cheer, and the promise of eternal salvation.

I met Janice and Bob many years ago as Janice and I worked for the Sheriff’s Department in the desert. I will always remember her humor and infectious smile. My wife and I were privileged to visit them in Alaska where we were feted with a Cook family gathering including most of the family and some excellent food. Years later I again visited them with my son Tony at their home I Las Vegas. Again the Cook warmth and great food. We kept in touch over the years via electronic media. Janice was much better at that than I. I pray for her and the family regularly and will always cherish the memories. Rest In Peace my friend.
