Her Life
April 11, 2019

We celebrate the life our our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother Janice Maydene Garlick Cook.

Janice was born in Orovill, CA in 1938. She was the third and only surviving child of Forrest Alton and Olive Marie Smith Garlick; her siblings died in infancy.

She married Robert Gene cook in August 1958 and is survivred by her husband and their three children, Robert F Cook, Charlotte L Cook and Richard B Cook.

Our mother loved her family dearly; she always told us "you kids are the greatest thing I've ever done". She had a way of making each of us feel special. Love was the currency she would spend on us, which she spent generously, sacrificing her own happiness for the sake of ours.

Janice had a vibrant life filled with laughter, family and good friends. She enjoyed hosting parties and liked to make her own fancy dressed in the latest styles for the occasion. She loved to dance and sing and fill our home with music. Some of her favorite songs to sing to her children to lull them to sleep was "you are my sunshine" and "over the rainbow".

She fostered and cherished friendships the way some might admire jewels; she loved litening and sharing the converstions or stories of her friends latest adventure. Every endeavor Janice undertook wether it be enlisting in the Airforce, moving from California to Alaska, or becoming an entreprenuer would reward her a new gem of a friend; she loved them all and felt their love in return.

Janice cherished the simple things in life like a morble, and old coin, unique seashells, colorful rocks and pictures of family and friends. Those trinkets are spread about giving long-lasting, sweet memories of a life well lived.

A NEW DAY

Dusk falls...and I close my eyes

to wake to a bright new tomorrow.

Gone are...the labors of life ,the

futility of strife, and the lingering trauma of sorrow.

Dawn breaks...adn I clearly see

A new day of heavenly creation

Fresh with new hope, renewed faith

and good cheer, and the promise of eternal salvation.
