Janie Palmer Lyon, 85, a longtime resident of Butner, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

A native of Dyer County, Tennessee, the widow of Winfield O. Lyon, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ninnie Swain Palmer.  She retired from Murdoch Center as a Health Care Supervisor, a member of Butner First Baptist Church serving 29 years with the tape ministry.  She was an active member of the Ruth Helms Prayer Group and the XYZ Club.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Butner First Baptist Church by Rev. Lennie Rogers.  Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.

Surviving is a sister, Jeannie Archer of Maury City, Tn., numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister, Mae P. Jones, 2 brothers, Clyde Palmer and Emmitt Palmer.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Butner First Baptist Church, PO Box 44, Butner, North Carolina 27509.

Visitation will be held 7:00 – 8:30 PM, Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at her home.

Janie was a dear,dear friend. She was a very sweet caring,loving and thoughtful person. You could surely see Christ in her life. She will be missed by all that knew her. I will miss her greatly. Janie, may you rest in peace. I will see you again some day. I love you. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family.May God Bless and comfort you with His loving care.

Janie was a wonderful friend of my mother Mildred Parrish.She visited her regular and always checked on her at least one time a week.I know that mama,Janie,and Mrs.Boyce are catching up on all the news from Butner in heaven with our heavenly father.

Mrs. Janie was truly a wonderful person, with such a tremendous loving spirit. It was our pleasure to have been neighbors with her in Butner. Our children have many fond memories of visits with Mrs. Janie. She was one of the sweetest people in the world, and we were blessed to have her as a friend. We miss you dearly, Mrs. Janie. Rest in eternal peace until we see you again.

Janie was a good neighbor of my Grandma and Granddaddy Patterson for as long as I can remember. Always so sweet, kind, and she loved the Lord with all her heart!! Janie will be dearly missed in the neighborhood and in our Church family. I will miss her beautiful smile and kind words. I love you Janie. Rest now until we meet in that beautiful place our Father has prepared for us :)
