Jason was born in Newnan, Georgia on December 5, 1983, the son of Judy Rogers Tinsley Massa and the late Robert Tinsley. For the last seventeen years he had a loving step father, Tim Massa. It was evident that Jason loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He was an extreme extravert who loved people, and was never afraid of carrying on a conversation with the young or old. From a very early age he had a great love for the Lord. His preacher, Brother Luther Raines said “Jason can pray as well as any adult in our church.” He loved sports, playing video games, all kinds of music, and food of any kind.
At the age of eight he suffered a terrible seizure which resulted in him being given a medication which he was allergic to. This caused complications that disabled him for the rest of his 22 years. Through much pain and seven major surgeries his light continued to shine. Even though he could not talk, walk, or eat you knew he was paying attention to everything because he watched your every move. He had a great love for his nieces and nephews. When his niece, Tabatha was upset they could put her on Jason’s stomach and she would immediately stop crying. On the day he died, even in his week state he refused to go until he saw his nephew, Justin one last time. His love for family, especially his mother is what kept him living. This memorial could not be written without mentioning the tremendous devotion his mother, step father, sister, and brother had to Jason’s care. His life was greatly enriched by their love. Caring for him, even though very demanding, brought great joy to his family! The example they set for others left a mark on all who witnessed their devotion. It is only with the knowledge of knowing that Jason is again healthy and with the Lord that his family can rejoice in his Devine healing.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Judy and Tim Massa; sister, Tina Pope (Chuck), three brothers, Chuck Whitten, Ricky Whitten, and Cody Massa; two nieces, Tabitha Whitten and Madison Pope; and two nephews, Justin Whitten and Whit Pope , all of Franklin, Georgia.
Other than his father he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Christine Thrower, and W. L. Rogers.
