Jean &chuck have been our best friends since High School. Our children went to same school and church together growing up. We celebrated reunions New Years lots of dances. Chuck love to dance.
So many fun times. We shared the good times and the heartaches.
In our midlife we had a standing Fri.night
date and enjoyed each other company.
In our retirement years we both got a place on Barkley lake. Indian point.
We were there 12 years. Made some wonderful Ky. Friends. We both cherished their friendship. We enjoyed our grandchildren together. They loved hooking up the pontoons boats . So many fun times. In later years we visited often
and enjoyed each other.
My heart is hurting, but I know she is with her beloved Chuck.
Will always remember her wonderful smiles and big hugs.Feel so grateful for all
many years of friendship and wonderful memories we had together.
To Dennis Sheri Ronnie and all the family
we send our forever love and prayers to you and big hugs.❤

Her Life

A lifetime of great memories

April 29, 2021
On Tuesday April 27, 2021 at the age of 82 our cherished and sassy mother, grandmother, and great grandmother left this world to join her beloved husband, Chuck. Fannie (don’t tell her we told you) Jean Brazelton was born on November 14, 1938 to Leonard and Ruby Jackson Cash. Jean spent her early years in Clay, KY with her Aunt Cory where her love for music and dream of being a Rockette began. At the ripe old age of 13 she got her first job as a car hop at Dog n Suds and became a big sister for the first time to Cindy, closely followed by Paula and Phyllis. She and Paula remained close until the very end.

She attended Central High School where she met the love of her life, her lifelong friends Josephine & Donnie Schminke and graduated in 1957. Chuck and Jean married on October 12, 1957. They did everything together and there isn’t a story worth telling that doesn’t include the other one. They raised three children Dennis, Ronnie, and Sheri. When the kids were younger, she was always there as the full time cook, maid, seamstress and caregiver. As the kids got older Jean worked outside the home at Chandler State Bank, Arkla Furnace, and Karges.

Jean used her sewing superpowers to make everything from bellbottom jeans to Halloween costumes and seat covers for the pontoon boat. She enjoyed listening to her grandchildren perform music, watching Wheel of Fortune, cooking, playing cards and having a laugh with friends and family especially if she was at the lake.

'Mean Jean' was left-handed enjoyed Diet Dr. Pepper, Bloody Marys, Cheetos, carrot salad from Chic Fila, and going to Cracker Barrel, so long as there was a pull through for the trailer. She loved to cook and while she never lived out her dream of being a short order cook at the Waffle House, she did make the best damn fried chicken and pecan pie around. She shared her love for cooking with her grandchildren by rolling out dumplings with them every Thanksgiving.

Jean may have been the only woman stubborn enough to be married to Chuck. She was deeply proud of her family and would tell anyone who would listen how talented her grandchildren are. She loved God and her church family and while she may be another COVID statistic to the rest of the world and it is hard and sad for us to say goodbye we’re comforted knowing that she’s reunited with husband and at peace.

In keeping with Jean's wishes there will be no formal memorial service. If you would like to show your love and support, donate to the charity of your choice, or perform a random act of kindness because like Jean said, “Be nice or go away”.

It took a while for Jean to think I was ‘OK’. I was the ‘city girl’ so the jury was out for a short time.
Eventually She knew Dennis and I were in love and good for each other and that’s all that mattered to her.   So I guess I got my stamp of approval.

She and my mom were fun together. They stayed with Christopher and Caroline for a week once. Jean loved to tell  stories about that week.   Once we all rented a cabin together for a weekend.  My parents, Chuck and Jean  and Dennis and me.  One morning we woke up and Jean and my mom were standing looking out a window AMAZED at how still this owl was sitting in the tree. They watched for quite awhile. And whispered about for a long time.   They didn’t realize but we watched them watching.    It turned out it was a fake owl put in the tree to scare off whatever owls scare off.  We never let them forget that!! Hence- owls for Christmas presents!!

Jean and Chuck had the best phrases - like “that’s so far out the roosters were fornicating with the hoot owls.”  I thought my mom was going to have to be picked up off the floor she was laughing so hard.

They loved all their grandchildren and great grandchildren. You could hear them bursting with pride when they talked about them!

When I think of more I’ll write more. But for now I’ll say I miss them both terribly.   It’s a void in my heart that will never be filled.

“Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal....
Love leaves a memory that no one can steal”

May the wonderful memories and Blessing that you have of your parents and grandparents provide the Brazelton family solace knowing that Miss Jean is resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord.
And she is reunited with Chuck!
it was a pleasure to know them!

Sad  to see all of my parents friends go.....
~until you meet again!!!
my prayers are with you all

I knew Chuck and Jean from our time at Indian Point Campground together. I remember they always went together, you couldn’t say Chuck without saying Jean and you couldn’t say Don without saying Jo! I loved going to Chuck and Jean’s camper to check their outdoor cushions Jean sewed because they’d always make sure there was money in them for us to find. Jean made mudslides one time and made sure I had a kid version and I thought she was so cool. Chuck and Jean (and Don & Jo of course) came to my wedding in 2016 and I was so thankful they made the trip. I got to dance with Chuck and his cigar at the reception. I have always thought the world of Jean and know she will be deeply missed by all who love her.
