A lifetime of great memories

On Tuesday April 27, 2021 at the age of 82 our cherished and sassy mother, grandmother, and great grandmother left this world to join her
beloved husband, Chuck. Fannie (don’t tell her we told you) Jean Brazelton was
born on November 14, 1938 to Leonard and Ruby Jackson Cash. Jean spent her
early years in Clay, KY with her Aunt Cory where her love for music and dream
of being a Rockette began. At the ripe old age of 13 she got her first job as a
car hop at Dog n Suds and became a big sister for the first time to Cindy,
closely followed by Paula and Phyllis. She and Paula remained close until the
very end.
She attended Central High School where she met the love of her life, her lifelong friends Josephine & Donnie Schminke and graduated in 1957. Chuck and Jean married on October 12, 1957. They did everything together and there isn’t a story worth telling that doesn’t include the other one. They raised three children Dennis, Ronnie, and Sheri. When the kids were younger, she was always there as the full time cook, maid, seamstress and caregiver. As the kids got older Jean worked outside the home at Chandler State Bank, Arkla Furnace, and Karges.
Jean used her sewing superpowers to make everything from bellbottom jeans to Halloween costumes and seat covers for the pontoon boat. She enjoyed listening to her grandchildren perform music, watching Wheel of Fortune, cooking, playing cards and having a laugh with friends and family especially if she was at the lake.
'Mean Jean' was left-handed enjoyed Diet Dr. Pepper, Bloody Marys, Cheetos, carrot salad from Chic Fila, and going to Cracker Barrel, so long as there was a pull through for the trailer. She loved to cook and while she never lived out her dream of being a short order cook at the Waffle House, she did make the best damn fried chicken and pecan pie around. She shared her love for cooking with her grandchildren by rolling out dumplings with them every Thanksgiving.
Jean may have been the only woman stubborn enough to be married to Chuck. She was deeply proud of her family and would tell anyone who would listen how talented her grandchildren are. She loved God and her church family and while she may be another COVID statistic to the rest of the world and it is hard and sad for us to say goodbye we’re comforted knowing that she’s reunited with husband and at peace.
In keeping with Jean's wishes there will be no formal memorial service. If you would like to show your love and support, donate to the charity of your choice, or perform a random act of kindness because like Jean said, “Be nice or go away”.
