Me and my brother

January 29, 2015

I was born on January 5th 1965 with Ian following on the 5th November 1967. My everlasting memories include my imaginary friend 'Minda Minda' who lived down the grid in the back yard. I remember mum telling me that I had told her she was lots of colours ....... And I spent time chatting to her down the grid ..... The mind boggles suffice to say Ian followed as mum and sad decided I was lonely x

Well Ian did duly follow, his birthday I remember well with auntie Irene and auntie Evelyn  keeping watch over me whilst Dad boiled pans of water on the gas stove ..... And I flicked through pages of the catologue choosing Christmas presents !

Don't recall what Santa brought just know I had a new brother whom I cried at when I saw him for the first time :) x

Little did mum realise what a handful she had x

My mum

January 29, 2015

Mum was the 5th child born to Nellie & Harry Ankers of Hollins Estate Oldham, having three older brothers and one older sister with a younger sister adding to the family. Mum went to Hollins school as funnily enough did my Dad Brian and the rest of both their families.

Having left school mum became a machinist at various places in a Oldham one being Ladybird the other Failsworth Hats ..... This is where mum and dad met.

They were married on June 2nd 1962 at St. John's Church in Werneth.

Her long lasting childhood friend was Sylvia a Thomas (Chadderton) whom she worked with in the 1970's as a dinner lady or as mum would have said 'i'm mid day supervisor ..... Always made me smile that comment !

She also worked with the lovely Brenda Holden too, who became a long lasting freind of mums even when Brenda and her family moved to North Wales in the early 90's.
