Her Life

My Mom

May 11, 2011

My Mom taught me everything I know about being a good person, a good friend, and a good mother.  She was the kindest, most loving, giving person I've ever known.  She sacrificed everything to raise us four children and she did a wonderful job.  I remember times when she didn't even have a slip to wear in winter, times when she worked a full time job, but still took the time to polish school shoes every night and pack lunches every morning before she went to work.  She also got up early to cook breakfast, wash dishes, make beds - all before going to work all day.  At 10, she taught me how to cook - even home made biscuits - and have supper on the table at night when she and daddy got home.  I loved learning from my Mom and helping her in every way I could. I'm told I cook just like her.  Boy, I'd love to have some of her cooking.  I miss her terribly and wish so much that I could see her smiling face, hear her singing and whistling, hear her laughter.  I have so many days when I need to talk to her for advice and encouragement - but she's no longer here.  I hope she has a beautiful crown full of her favorite stones up in Heaven where she's happy, painfree, and at peace.  I love you, Mama.  One day I'll meet you at the Pearly Gates and I can once again see your smiling face.  Until then, tell Daddy and Rickey I miss and love them too.  And if you should see Bob, tell him I'll be with him again soon.
