The shock of losing my sister-in-law Jeanine so quickly in an automobile accident has me profoundly grieving. I was her maid of honor at their wedding at White Sands Missile Base in New Mexico. It was my honor to serve my brother Russ and Jeanine in that capacity. She has been a delight in our family gatherings, a real Georgia Peach. I tried to emulate her, but my journey took a turn to the technical after high school. I remember when Russ first brought her to our home. I remember her getting off the bus, and Russ introducing us to the beautiful woman who would change our lives. Russ married a winner! She was charming to all of us and always laughing and relaxing our family. The last time that I saw her was when I graduated from Oregon State University in 1968. She provided a graduation party at their home, then I headed for California in a new VW to work at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. My mother chaperoned me on the trip south, much to her misgivings. Although we were not as close as I would have liked, Jeanine remembered to send Christmas cards. I thank God for sending the angels who removed her and Russ from their burning car. May they be blessed.
