Jeffery Bruce Legg, 53, passed away on March 19, 2016, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s Heart and Vascular Intensive Care Unit in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Jeff was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on December 17, 1962, the same date in history that the Wright Brothers took flight. He lived his life with the same determination as the Wright Brothers, twice surviving cancer in his twenties to live a life full of love and adventure. He graduated from the University of Florida, with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and went on to work at the University of Florida, Texas A&M University, and as a consultant in engineering embedded design and biometrics in State College, PA, southern New Jersey, and the Philadelphia metropolitan area. His clients included such organizations as NASA and Panasonic, the latter of whom he assisted in the development of iris scanning technology. He holds two patents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Julie (Haynes), and three sons, Adam (13), James (10), and Luke (10) of Mullica Hill, NJ. He also is survived by his mother Nora Ann (Linda) of Sun City Center, Florida; brother John, nephew Jordan, and niece, Jaylee of Orlando, Florida; best friend Brian Odean of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including those on Julie’s side who also claimed him as one of their own. He is predeceased by his father, Frederick (Fred) Legg, and his beloved not-really-a-dog, Egypt.

Those who were lucky enough to know and love Jeff will remember his infectious laugh, wicked sense of humor, sparkling blue eyes, and adventurous spirit. He had a quiet intelligence and an immense love for his wife. Mostly, he fiercely loved his children. He endured much simply to be present for them for as long as he could. While we are saddened that they will miss so many years with him, we know that friends and family will share their love and memories with them and that he will remain with them in spirit.

The boys have requested that a memorial service for Jeff be held at our local park, where Jeff frequently took them and where we have joyous memories. The service will be on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 4:00pm at Stewart Park, South Harrison Township, NJ (67 Ferrell Road, Harrisonville, NJ).

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established for the children. Donations may be made by visiting www.jeffleggfamilyeducationfund.com
