I loved seeing Jeff everyday. He would always dance with us during off periods and lunch. He was always there to talk to and laugh with, he was a smiling face I would always be exited to see when going to school. My favorite memory of Jeff is at least 3 days a week during sophomore year I would see him in the hallway while searching for food and Jeff would always ask what class I'm in. He'd come into the class around 10 min later with food for me. There was one day he gave me a full chicken. He will be missed. - Ava Young (11th grade student)

Jeff was clearly the most loved staff member at FHS, he was the friendliest person I have personally ever met and never failed to put a smile on peoples faces, he went out of his way to help others always and just in general does not have a bad bone in his body. His passing is a great loss for Fairview and anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him. - Claire Bachtel (11th grade student)

Jeff Jones is an Angel in my life. I am a 47 year old practicum student, observing this year in Doc Z's Ap Lit and Senior Lit and Comp classes and a 1991 graduate of Boulder High School, where Jeff also worked. Between HS and this year, I have seen Jeff, and known him, mostly through his smiles, kind words of encouragement and cool confidence in the flow of this crazy life, which always sent the silent message that "...everything's going to be alright..." As an uber focused athlete and socially awkward teen, Jeff's presence in my HS was a great comfort. That comfort was familiar and welcomed last September as I entered the doors of FHS, navigating the nerves of beginning of a new career at age 47. I was so happy and relieved to see his kind, familiar face in the front office, amazed at my good fortune and the full circle nature of life. Feeling the positive impact of his presence in my life is a gentle, powerful reminder of how every gesture, every kind word, makes a difference; he made a difference for me, and has made a difference for us. I invite his Spirit to visit me, anytime, to remind me that we matter and that we can make a difference. Thanks, Jeff. I'm missing you. - Melody Fairchild (teacher/staff)

Back in freshman year, my friend and I were dancing in the hallway when Jeff walked up and asked us what we were doing. My friend told him that we were doing interpretive dance and he asked us to do some for him. I was laughing so hard that I wasn't able to come up with anything and so Jeff told me that I shouldn't bank on a future in interpretive dance as I wasn't very good at it. It was probably the best advice I've ever been given. Jeff was always able to make students smile and brighten our days. - Morgan Agnew (12th grade student)

He was by far one of the kindest people at Fairview, he sat at the lunch tables near us, he got along with every single type of kid, regardless of background. He always cracked jokes at me and my friends, who sat near him. - Yasas Wijesekara (12th grade student)

I was never too close to Jeff but I know for a fact everyone knew who he was. You couldn't miss him wandering the halls with his familiar smile and raspy yet joyous voice. He'd always ask me how I was doing when I saw him in the halls and it always made my day. One of my favorite memories I vaguely remember is during one friday afternoon. There was some school event going on later that day but I never really payed attention to them. Some music was being played in the student center to rally people up in excitment. I walked off to the bathroom and looked down into the student center from the hallway ramps to see jeff on top of a table dancing his heart out. Jeff added a rambunctious character and energy to all of fairview. He will be missed deeply by all of us. - Dylan Schelin (11th grade student)

I remember Jeff as the light and heart of Fairview. Every student I know always loved Jeff and the energy he brought whenever he walked into the building. He always made time to talk with the kids; always getting in on their inside jokes. He was never afraid to have some fun and I specifically remember his karaoke performance at what I believe was the Homecoming assembly. He gave such a full out performance that had every student in the gym cheering him on. He never failed to bring a smile to my face, as well as all the other students he talked to. He will be missed greatly. - Mia Anderson (11th grade student)

I remember that Jeff was always making my friends and I smile. He was almost like one of the students at Fairview high school. He was always coming up to tables we would be sitting in the student center and just making sure we would be laughing or having a good time. Jeff will be greatly missed by our whole community and everyone who knew him, I am going to miss him a lot. - Joe Lingold (11th grade student)

I think the first time I talked to Jeff was when he and one of my friends were talking how he hates cats and small dogs. He hated small dogs because they were like cats. He wasn't the biggest fan of big dogs either, I just remember him saying he hated small dogs and cats. - Maya Ziebarth (11th grade student)

Jeff was really kind and funny. The kids loved him. He was in the ILC all the time. One of my favorite memories was when he would take us on a tour of Haunted Fairview. We saw the secret rooms, hidden escapes and even the dungeon. He had a great sense of fun and a sparkle. - Judy Pieken (teacher/staff)

I have a great deal of respect for Jeff because he was always sincere, caring, and honest in his interactions with the students - even when he needed to tell the student something they did not want to hear.
Jeff did not hesitate to help out when I needed help filming a lab during the pandemic. He took on the role of a student with enthusiasm and humor. Thank you Jeff. Jeff really cared about and empathized with the students. - Steve Wozniak (teacher/staff)

Jeff held such a big and beautiful space at Fairview and in all of our lives as students individually. He walked with me through some of the most formative years of my life. And even when I went back after I graduated he made a point to be able to catch up and he promised me he would take care of my younger sister. He would talk to me about things ranging from the drama in the school to his beliefs and values. He affirmed and cared for all of us in a stage of life not many have the heart to. I lost my brother a few months ago and I know he is up there with Jeff. I can take peace in that even though not much else can do that. He deserved it all and will be remembered for the legend that he was in and outside of the walls of Fairview.

Jeff made the hard days at school that much easier. He was always able to tell when something was wrong and always gave advice or just told you something you needed to hear. I will always remember him by how he was the only adult at school that truly took the time to understand us. He will always have a special place in my heart. And may his legacy live on forever. ❤️

Jeff was so much fun to spend time with at lunch on the bricks. He could never get my name right, so he would call me a combination of helga, Katie and helda, which I honestly loved. Usually he would give us silly advice, but from time to time he would get serious and remind us to do what we love or follow our dreams. He was so kind, so thoughtful, and extremely hard working. There never was a dull moment when Jeff was around. He exemplified the spirit of Fairview, and loved every single one of the students with his whole heart. He will be very missed.

Jeff is my first memory that I have of Fairview. I was a middle schooler listening to a presentation in the student center when he discovered that someone had left their locker unlocked. He proceeded to turn the lock backwards on the locker so that they’d “learn their lesson”. It was a goofy, lighthearted gesture that was sure to cause some chuckles. In turn, I came to know Jeff as a goofy, lighthearted person who was sure to cause some chuckles. After that day in the student center, I knew I was going to love Fairview for a variety of reasons—but Jeff’s love and goofiness topped them all. He will forever be a real Knight for doing what he loved with a smile-inducing passion.

Jeff was the first person I met at fairview. He helped myself and so many other transfer students in the school. He chatted with me, my friends, and several of the students; even when he didn’t have time, he would always wave. He was one of the most caring individuals. He always told funny stories as well. He did so much for the community and he will definitely be remembered by many.

Jeff was one of the first friendly faces I came to recognize at Fairview. High school can be a turbulent experience, and I know he was a stabilizer for so so many different students like myself regardless of their grade level, interests, or really any other factors. There was nobody like him out there, and we were the luckiest to have him around. We love and miss you forever, Jeff.

Jeff was one of the most amazing staff members I knew. He never failed to make me laugh and always made everyones day brighter. He was a beacon of optimism in a world of negativity for most people. He showed everyone what it was like to love life and he always inspired people to love each other. He was an inspiration to everyone. His name and memory will never be forgotten, nor will his smile and laugh. We love you Jeff, may you Rest In Peace.

Jeff was always so nice to every student, and made everyone feel welcomed. He’d always make an effort to know students - we’d talk about music that we liked, and sometimes our conversations would last into the next period.
