Jeff was an absolute light in the lives of us as everyday students. He made 7am fun, funny, and exciting. Jeff always knew how to pull our leg and laugh and joke with us around the halls.

Jeff was one of the first friendly faces I came to recognize at Fairview. High school can be a turbulent experience, and I know he was a stabilizer for so so many different students like myself regardless of their grade level, interests, or really any other factors. There was nobody like him out there, and we were the luckiest to have him around. We love and miss you forever, Jeff.

Jeff was one of the most amazing staff members I knew. He never failed to make me laugh and always made everyones day brighter. He was a beacon of optimism in a world of negativity for most people. He showed everyone what it was like to love life and he always inspired people to love each other. He was an inspiration to everyone. His name and memory will never be forgotten, nor will his smile and laugh. We love you Jeff, may you Rest In Peace.

Jeff was one of the most loving compassionate people I have ever met in life. I remember seeing Jeff and asking to hear one of the stories he had to tell. Sometimes you didn’t full believe what he was saying because it was so crazy. But he told everyone the exact same stories. A good man. A really good soul. He will be deeply missed.

Jeff showed us all what a security guard is supposed to be to a community. He loved us like we loved him and made us feel safe not through power and weapons, but through connection and care. I’ll never forget being introduced as a freshman to Jeff, as meeting him felt like meeting a friend for the first time. I still remember it, like it was yesterday. Endless thank yous to Jeff for making
so many students smile. My thoughts are with his family. I’m gonna miss you man.

Jeff was so special to the Fairview community. He always made an effort to put a smile on people’s faces and make them feel welcome. His humor, energy, and kindness always brightened the room. We will miss him so much.

Jeff was one of the best parts of Fairview. Even though I never spoke to him in depth, he was always there to make myself, and all the other kids laugh and smile. Jeff was one of the only people who would come up to me and ask me how I was doing, particularly on days when my life wasn't going great. He was also always there with the offer that you could talk to him about what was going on in your life, or about how you were doing. I think that Fairview has many flaws, but Jeff made up for a whole lot of them. He was one of my favorite people at Fairview, and I will miss him dearly. He was an incredible person, and I will never forget all the times he made me laugh, and all the times he made me smile. I think Fairview, and the world, would be a much better place if we had more people like Jeff.
I'm so sorry to his family for your loss.
Jeff will be deeply missed.
And even just the idea of having to walk around Fairview without seeing Jeff's smile face(and mask of course) makes me cry.
Jeff was a HUGE part of the Fairview community, and I can already feel the hole that he's left behind.

Jeff was the coolest. His smile was contagious. Everytime I went to a sport event, Jeff would be there cheering everyone on. I remember my junior year, I went and bought a fish during my off period and I went up and showed Jeff and he just held the fish and laughed. He always told me stories, and made my days so much better. I would always tell Jeff that he was the reason I came to school and he would respond how that means he is doing his job. I remember that him and a few of my friends had a running joke of "Bracelets by Jeff". It started when he walked by a couple of us who were sitting on the bricks eating lunch. I was making a bunch of friendship bracelets and he stopped to look for a second. I looked up at him but continued to make bracelets. I can't remember the exact conversation we had but I do remember how kind he was. He complimented what I was making and jokingly added, "You know maybe I could make some of them and sell them. Make some money." My friends and I went along with him and hyped it up. "So what would you call your brand?" I asked. "Bracelets by Jeff. Yeah for sure." We all laughed along with him until lunch ended. But every time he would walk by I'd always call out to him, "How's Bracelets by Jeff going?" And his response would always be along the lines of "Still gotta get it started but just wait until it kicks off!" And I guess now we'll be forever kept waiting for Bracelets by Jeff...

Jeff was the softball team's most enthusiastic and supportive fan. He cheered louder than anyone and kept us all in high spirits even if we were getting crushed. I'm going to miss seeing his face at the games. - Kate Liston (12th grade student)

He was unbelievably good at his job. He always made me and all my friends feel safe. When I was a freshman he made me feel welcome at school and was always somebody I would look forward to talking to whenever I went to school. - Jaden Carda (11th grade student)

As a student, who transitioned high schools, sophomore year, my first impressions of Jeff was that He was always smiling. Jeff's smile was contagious. His friendly face made the transition less awkward and easy for my sister and I.

The school's environment with Jeff's presence around always felt safe and joyful. He did the most simple jobs with great joy and enthusiasm. He was more than a staff member. He was a friend, a mentor. He always acknowledged everyone he encountered, making everyone feel at home even though they were at school.

This quote from Mother Teresa I believe truly encapsulates who Jeff was: It's not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts.

Jeff truly put the greatest amount of love into his work, and I will remember Jeff in my prayers.

Jeff and I had a special bond. I always called him "Bones Jones", which is a nickname for a menacing UFC fighter. He was a tough and resilient guy. I would always ask him "What's the word?" and he would respond, "You know, the word is Good!" I loved when he would crash into my classroom just to rile up the students and share a good laugh.
One of my best memories with Jeff was a time where we were both here late one afternoon, and we spent over an hour talking about God, the meaning of life, love, and being strong in tough situations. It was a great, heartfelt, and meaningful moment for both of us.
He had a lot of love and light in him, and he truly saw his work as a responsibility to share that light and direction with kids. He impacted so many with his light hearted spirit, his contagious laugh, and his wisdom. I am going to miss him dearly, but I plan on seeing him again in the realm untouched by the sicknesses of the body.
He was a good man who fully believed in the power of love and that his own love and essence are eternal.

Jeff was always so happy to be at Fairview. I remember countless times when he would show up to the softball games, even when we were having a rough time listening to him scream and cheer us on made it so much fun.

Jeff always had a perennial smile for everyone, he could get you talking even if you didn't want to and were having a bad day. Jeff was interested in people and wanted to get to know you whether you were young or old. He supported the students and believed in them. I didn't know Jeff very well, but I'd always see him around school a lot. Whenever I would see him around he'd always have a smile on his face if not he was laughing, he was a very happy and outgoing person. - Kayla Rodriguez (10th grade student)

Jeff was one of the first FHS staff members I bonded with. Maybe it was because we share the last same name. Whatever it was, I felt a kinship with Jeff from the first day I met him. We talked about Boulder and our lives here, and his stories were much better and more homegrown than mine could ever be. He was an enthusiastic storyteller. I heard about his old camaro, his fishing trips and buddies, and his love for music, especially what we might call classic rock today. Jeff was also very kind and formative when it came to my son Griffin. Griff is a painfully shy middle schooler at Southern Hills, who often walks over to FHS after school. Jeff took interest in my son and helped him open up and feel comfortable here among all the big scary people. He would even wait for him (or Littel Jones as he called him)at the door, let him in and a walk him to me. He helped Griff come out of his shell through their chats. 

Jeff meant a lot to me and to so many people- at FHS and beyond. He was a good friend and I miss him dearly

Jeff was such an amazing person. I remember walking down the ramp as a tiny little 9th grader and being absolutely terrified by this giant brand new school. And I remember that he would always say "hi" to me in the halls anytime I saw him and he would always go out of his way to make me feel welcomed. I really do think that he was the reason that I came out of my shell in 9th grade because I knew that I wasn't alone in the big scary school, and that I could have that one person I could always talk to. I can not believe that he's gone. All I know is that the sky got one of the brightest stars added to it on Sunday night. Jeff will be missed by all the kids here at school and the halls will be duller without him. I want to thank him for everything that he did for me last year. I have had several interactions with Jeff between my two years at Fairview. He was always walking around the classroom with a smile on his face and he always made everyone he spoke to feel welcomed and happy by his presence. I remember that one day he walked passed my locker, peeked in, and saw my grumpy cat onesie that I had in my locker since halloween and begged me to wear it to the assembly that was happening that day. He tried it on and just brought laughter to everyone around him. I used to be a little salty that I never got it back but now im just thinking about all of the laughs he brought using it, and it makes it worth it. - Gabriel Staehelin (10th grade student)

I remember that Jeff was one of the first people that I met at Fairview, when he helped my get a new I.D. badge after mine broke. His helpfulness and friendliness really stood out to me then, and it was always nice to see him in the halls at Fairview. - Tobias Beesley (10th grade student)

I just remember when I was a freshman and Jeff would come down and try and mess with all of the new freshman. Jeff was a great and kind soul to everyone and anyone he came across. I remember when I first came to Fairview as a freshman, I was somewhat nervous and didn't really know what I was doing. But surly as Jeff always does, he introduced himself and showed me the way around. Not only was Jeff a good man he was also a good friend, no matter what Jeff was doing he would always put that aside and talk to you, I remember talking to Jeff about football a lot and how we will do this year. I was not really close with Jeff and did not know him very well but from what I've seen and heard I can tell he was an amazing guy. Jeff was the one guy at Fairview that I knew was 100% going to be there at he bottom of the school talking to students on there way to class. Jeff would give the best advice and he was the person I would go to to talk to when I didn't want to go up the the counseling office, he was the guy that always made me laugh when I was stressed or sad. During freshman year lunch, my friends and I would talk to Jeff and listen to his stories about students who had their backpacks confiscated. One time we were watching a video of this girl crushing bread and Jeff thought we were really weird. - April Tong (11th grade student)

Jeff was always there for students. He noticed if you didn't feel well or needed someone to check in on you. He always greeted me and made sure I smiled whenever I saw him. He was one of the best staff I have had the pressure of meeting. - Kymber Anderson (11th grade student)

I didnt know Jeff very well, but I know many people who knew him. I know that he was very funny, he could always make you feel better, and he was always open to any kind of conversation. Jeff was the one who got the energy up at all of the volleyball games. It didn't matter if we were winning or losing, Jeff would be there rooting for us louder than anyone else in the gym. This goes for almost every sports game as well. He was our true mascot. - Ava Armstrong (11th grade student)

He was always really sweet and kind and actually tried to connect and talk to all the students along with doing his job as security guard. Everytime I went to the bathroom during class or just saw him around school I would say hi and of course he would say hi back and start a conversation. Mia and I were talking to him and he said he had an amazing story to tell us about girls with hammocks in the student center or something and that it was the best story he had, but he would only tell us the story once we got to senior year. Jeff was an extremely funny, sweet, and caring person. He was the only custodian that i know the name of because he would always be making the student laugh. He was everyones favorite security guard and could never fail to make you smile. I remember he would always come into the student center and immediately everyone wanted to talk to him. Jeff was one of the kindest people I have ever met. Everyday walking in to school, I remember seeing him directing cars and talking to students, always with a smile on his face. Jeff was alway ready to help others and it was clear to see that he was so passionate about his job, and proud to work at Fairview. I remember that Jeff would always help us set up different events in Student Council and even got up and danced on stage in the middle of the Student Center for Wish Week. - Emily Maran (11th grade student)

I remember there was a time when I got called up to the office because I had "gotten back" at this guy by pouring beans on the hood of his car. I had to do school community service and handle forms for sports but one was sweeping the entire school. I had to have Jeff monitor me because they wanted to make sure I wasn't slacking off. The first thing he asked me is if I knew how to sweep and my first thought was "what kind of question is that?" I said yeah and he goes "sweep then". I started to sweep and he just started laughing at me, grabbed the broom and dust pan, and showed me how to PROPERLY sweep. He handed me back the broom and dustpan and we walked around the whole school just conversing. I told him what I did and he started to laugh and he actually made my punishment fun as bad as it sounds. - Kayla Ruybal (11th grade student)

The first time I came to Fairview was in 8th grade (for a math class). I was incredibly scared and intimidated on the first day, and I had no idea how to get to my class. Jeff was super friendly and walked me down to my class, asking friendly questions and helping me get over my anxiety. Ever since then, Jeff had been a friendly face, or just a wonderful person to talk to any time you run into him. He always brightened up Fairview and I will always be grateful for that. - Roland Harrison (11th grade student)

Even though I didn't have many interactions with Jeff, the ones I did have are memorable and bring joy to some specifics moments I had at Fairview. Jeff was amazing, he had the best balance of sympathetic/empathetic teen and helping adult. He was able to connect with students in a humorous but constructive way. Through his humor Jeff was able to teach us life lesson that build our character and teach us how to respect ourselves and others. Jeff, despite what he was doing tried to help those in need and protect those in trouble. As confused high schoolers, Jeff was one of our most orienting figures present in our lives. - Paul Masters (11th grade student)

I remember meeting Jeff on the first day of freshman year through him making jokes to us as a scared group of freshmen. That was my first introduction to him in a place that was very much unfamiliar. In turn, when I became a junior, and my sister became a freshman, I remember that she met him through him making a joke which helped make the school seem less intimidating for her.
