Today I just found out Jeff passed in 2008. I am truly sorry for your loss but wanted to express my sincerest condolences to you and your family. I worked with Jeff as a Deputy for Sumter County Sheriff's Office. We worked the same areas together and truly relied upon each other as a team. He was funny, loved computer technology, excellent social skills, loved people period, and had a great sense of humour. Jeff was one of the fewest Deputies who knew South Sumter and the people knew him and would tell him where we could find a person faster than trying to locate an individual on our own. I learned so much from him and he took up so much time to make sure I learned the job correctly. He never saw race, he saw people as people. We had our share of Bonnie & Clyde days of getting into trouble and he always said as your Corporal, "I will never ask you to do something that I wouldn't do, and if you are in trouble, I am in trouble with you too." He meant that and has never left me out on a call by myself. No matter what type of call I received, Jeff Groth always came to back me up even if I didn't ask him too. We never had 1 misunderstanding about anything. I will always remember him for his smile and gifted ability in helping others. He was my friend and partner in law enforcement. Hey Jeff Man you would love the tech that we have today! Grandma told me you didn't like cell phones much but the cell phones these days would blow your mind. I may have never called you grandpa but i thought and loved you as one. You may be gone but I will always remember in my mind and in my heart. Grandma misses you so much we all do. I may not knw him personally, but from wut i have heard from his family, specially his wife linda, he was a great guy. I knw dat he is watching over his family and dat wutever his step daughter is going thru right now he is watching over her and would not approved of wut is goin on wid his grand son... :)
