Today my brother would have turned 60 years old. He left us too soon and yet soon enough for the sweet wandering soul that he was. I know he is somewhere beautiful today painting or exploring and at peace. We love you and miss you dear Jeff! Happy Birthday my sweet brother✨

I’ve just learned of Jeff’s passing and am so saddened. I met him at the same time as his first love, Robin, over 40 years ago. He introduced us to his snake and his art; he sure had a truly adventurous spirit and an energy about him that was contagious.
He had such an influence on by best friend, Robin, that he changed her life forever.
His natural and oh so real magical personality will be missed in this world.
May all the goodness of the beyond cloth you in happiness Jeff.
Blessings to the family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Jeff was my first love and we married my senior year in high school. He was magical and always energetic about life. We were so young and eventually parted ways. I have thought of him so often over the years. It saddens my heart that I didn't get to say goodbye. Rest in peace Jeff.

Glad I found this tribute site.
I met Jeff in the 9th or 10th grade at Reagan High School when his family lived down the road from us
Jeff was always a free spirit, enjoyed the outdoors a much as I... We spent hours and days together snake and lizard hunting around the Austin area.
We shared an apartment together for a few years.
My life changed, I got married, had kids, and all that and had lost track of him over the years.
For a long while, as others had, believed he had already passed away. Which turned out not to be true when he pinged me on LinkedIn maybe 2yrs ago. He was out on the highland lakes working as a camp site host.
Even as I tried, I lost track of him again..
I just recently moved from the Austin area to Corpus Christi, only to find out he was living in the Rockport area. We were finally able to spend an afternoon together, and I was able to return to him some of his most cherished art pieces he had done for me.
I always felt like Jeff struggled to fit into life here, in this place and this time, and wish him gods speed, and hope his soul is finally at rest!.

I love you man!

I think of Jeff as a renaissance man. He was my friend and hunting buddy. We shared many good times hunting of which some were real adventures. He could stay in the field hours on end. Jeff was talented in many areas. He was an artist, sculptor and he loved music. He was very interested in Native American life and culture. Jeff was extremely bright and knowledgeable in many subjects. He was a free spirit and a vagabond. Although Jeff had many health issues he persisted. Rest in Peace MY FRIEND.

Jeff Boobar - Obituary

May 17, 2021
Jeffrey Scott Boobar age 57 of Austin, Texas passed away on May 6, 2021 at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center with family by his side. He was born June 20, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas to John and Sara Boobar. The family moved to Austin in 1973 and he graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1981.

Jeff was a talented artist and sculptor and shared his artwork in several different ways and places including Minnesota where he lived for many years, Austin and the Highland Lakes area. He was most happy when he was outdoors in the wilderness searching for dinosaur bones, Indian tools and arrowheads. Jeff held a few different jobs during his lifetime including working for a local billboard company in Austin and Dairy Farm Milk Tester during his time in Minnesota. Most recently he was working as a volunteer Park Ranger in multiple State Parks in Texas and sharing his knowledge of the outdoors in different programs for the park guests. His first love however was creating art and that always brought him the most joy.

He never met a person that he didn’t call a friend and he will not be forgotten by any for the interesting stories he could share of his adventures and his knowledge of many different subjects.

Jeff was predeceased by his father John Oscar Boobar. He is survived by his mother Sara Cartwright Boobar, sister Denise Callahan and husband Mike Callahan , brother Dan Boobar, nephew and nieces Chris Callahan and wife Amber, Ryan Callahan and wife Jasmine, Lisa Sanchez and husband Isaac, Megan Boobar and Shawn Boobar and many more family and friends here and across the country.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for the near future. For those wishing to honor Jeff’s life we suggest donations to the American Heart Association, Austin Art Alliance or a charity of your choice.

Happy Birthday!

June 20, 2021
Happy Birthday my sweet "not friend". Jeff and I would joke about that because our relationship was indescribable. That word, like the word love is used so trivially we just referred to each other as "not friend". While Jeff could tell you the exact moment we met in high school and what I said to him, I cannot. But what I can say is that it was one of the best moments of my life. Jeff was branded into my heart. Jeff was an inspiration to many. He was loyal. He was laughter. He saw the world with wonder. He was a vast array of color. He was love.  As others have stated, life happens. Jeff married someone other than me #@$%! and we lost track of each other. For years I searched for him and later I learned, he for me. I prayed the Lord would allow our paths to cross again, and they did. I thank God for our time together and want to take a moment to remind each of you reading this that life is but a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. Draw your loved ones close and your enemies closer. Do good to all. Be the light that shines in the darkness. The world became dimmer once Jeff left. Happy Birthday!
