Feliz Cumpleaños to my friend Jenny! A brave bright light and intelligent leader that is missed, especially by her loving circle Las Mujeres. She was beautiful inside and out, fun and fearless. I am comforted today with the many special memories we shared. I look forward to honoring her with the renaming of the Jenny Oropeza school in Long Beach. God Bless you always! My Nina was a woman of strength and courage. She always had the courage to stand up for what she believed in, and carried the strength to voice her opinion. Her uncondional love for those who surrounded her, and "fight" for those who couldn't defend themselves. So I reach out to my Nina now, to help give me the strength and courage I need to continue on this journey that we call life.

Jenny soldiered on through adversity with a steady eye, a great heart, and a constant dream. All of us in the Senate will miss seeing her sitting at her desk in the front row with that mischievous twinkle in her eye and a heart full of enthusiasm for the things she believed in. That was the Jenny we looked forward to seeing. That is the Jenny we will remember.

Jenny Oropeza and I met 28 yrs ago. Her brother and I share Jenny's Goddaughter Alisha. I remember when i ask her to baptize alisha, she was so touched and honored. She has touched so many lives. Alisha adored her as did we all. She is the light of strength and courage. Thank you Jenny for giving that strength to us all. I love you and miss you and Thank you for being "YOU".

Jenny Oropeza and I were friends for over 30 years -- among her friends, that made me a newbie. She was a courageous woman of tremendous integrity, who inspired life-long loyalty in others. She will be remembered by most as a public servant who gave tirelessly of herself to her community. I will think of her laughter, her bone-deep goodness, her kindness.
I will miss her more than I can say.
