Dear Papa,

Today marks one year since you took your last breath. God has been merciful to us as a family and we thank Him for His protection, provision love and care.

JD! Forever in our hearts! Your works and life of faith and courage still speak. We thank God for giving you to us for the many years you were here. Till we meet again, we will continue to work the works of Him Who has called us while it is day - always keeping in mind that night cometh, when no man can work.

God bless your memory and your lineage always!

Amen!

Forever your pension baby,

Eleven-eleven remains in my memory as one of the last and largest gatherings of Papa, his family and friends at Wegbe-Kpalime. It was the Centenary Celebration of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church at the place Papa called 'home' and no one would take away the joy, excitement and preparation for this grand occasion. Papa was very happy - clad from head to toe in the anniversary cloth and ensured that all his family members had sewn and were wearing outfits made in the same cloth too. Children, in-laws, nephews, nieces, friends from church and whoever would listen had been told months ahead about this very-important occasion, and many had been invited to attend. I remember how some of us who had to do a return-trip that Sunday converged at my sister Emefa's home before 6am and were ready to set-off to Wegbe - all of us fully aware that we had to arrive way before the service itself began (Papa was not one to arrive late at Church services). My very good friend and maid-of-honour (Ayele), and my brother-in-law (Max) also joined in - to share in the joy of this 'Holy Village' we had said so much about. You can be certain that enough 'noise' had been made about the celebration! :)

Looking back at pictures from that day and remembering all that went on, I have smiles on my face. :) Papa was a 'GUY' - he knew how to let people share in his joys, and good news was never something to be 'hidden'. Good news had to be shared. Interestingly, today, i interacted for the first time with someone called 'Nyanyuie' - (i.e. 'good news' in Ewe).

Papa's legacy truly lives on! Life is more beautiful with relationships and we should all strive to build many impactful, truthful, well-meaning and lasting ones. May we shun the things that divide us and embrace the things that unite us. May the Lord enable us to let go of the things that have hurt us in the past and embrace a fresh start and a godly perspective on all issues. Amen.

Love God! Love people! 11-11 memories.

Papa, 52 years ago on the 28th day of the month of July, you welcomed me into God's wonderful world. Your love, care, support, guidance and fear of God  which you never ceased to instil in me has been my 'Ebenezer'. This is the first time I am have celebrated my birthday without you being anywhere around.  Indeed, your absence is  so noisy in my ears. I miss you so much.  I have grown through all the changing scenes of my life and I thank God for everything. I know the Good Lord will bring me to the expected end you envisaged for me. You are forever loved and missed. I can hear you sing a birthday song for me. I can feel your prayer of blessings over me. I say 'Amen' to answered prayers. Thank you, Papa.

TRIBUTE FROM MR DAVID KLUDJE TO THE MEMORY OF THE LATE MR JEREMIAH DAVID ADDO.

He cared.
This is a great humble gentleman that run a tremendous race of life and handed the baton over to his children.
My association with Mr Jeremiah David Addo dated back to 1999 when Weto Rural Bank Limited assigned me the responsibility to find a seasoned banker to help streamline the bank’s operation. I did not succeed in my quest to get this fine gentle giant to head the bank. However, I ended up having him to serve at a higher level.
Mr Addo, a retired Barclays Bank Manager at the time was highly recommended. I followed the lead and met him personally. We had lengthy interaction during which I indicated to him, the desire of the Board for him to head the Bank. He disclosed that, though he was on retirement, he could not relocate from Accra to Kpeve; because his wife was still in active service.
The discussions with him revealed that, he was a hands on manager, who had gone through the mill and had an in-depth appreciation of banking. I saw another opportunity and decided to explore it. I suggested devoting one day in a month to visit the bank and received a positive response. This laid the ground work to get him on the board as the professional banker.
In my report to the Board, I included a suggestion that he Mr JD Addo should be considered for directorship position. The Board was receptive to the idea and after the due process, he was appointed a Director of the Bank.
J.D. put his technical knowhow and experience at the disposal of the bank for over a decade. It was a sacrificial job at the time since for several years, each director was responsible for his own transport expenses. This meant Mr. Addo fuelled his car for the return journey from Accra to Kpeve every month to attend the mandatory board meetings. What a sacrifice for a pensioner to make. Aside putting his material resources at the disposal of the bank, he linked us to his contacts and his astute banker friends such as Mr. Kwapong, the first Managing Director of ARB Apex Bank, that on many occasions offered useful advise to us.
It is worth noting that, when the bank management had serious challenge with ledger balancing, Mr. Addo volunteered and spent two weeks at the bank to assist management to unravel the mystery.
Even after he retired from the Board, I continued to consult him on related issues. It’s a great legacy you left.
On this last chance, I say I am grateful and cherish my association with you.
Rest in peace.

Tribute to Papa by Bishop Kudzo Bekui

A tribute to a man loved by all
I just realized I can’t remember your first name. All that comes to mind is ‘Papa’ because you were a father to all by default
I heard of you from my parents before meeting you for the first time and you lived to the measure of their testimony of you
Your home was a home to me and my family. You called us and offered your home in the capital to us before we even needed it
You thought of and planned for others as Christ, gave up your privacy so others can have a place. I think I can say that like Abraham, you were blessed to be a blessing
The Lord reward you for your labor eternally

It is a privilege to have known Papa Addo. When I was EPSU president in Legon, Mr Addo was always interested in the activities of EPSU on campus. He supported our activities as a guest and also financially. What I loved about all these times was his expression of care for all of us. Personally, my parents talked about him fondly. I also remember that when he visited my parents back then in Ho, He would always come with a gift. I admired humility and joyful countenance. His commitment to support the work of the Lord is commendable.
He will forever remain a man of honor in my heart. A man whose life is truly generational.

Rest In Peace

The Christmas season for the Degbors were never complete with a family visit to the Addos. Uncle JD will always drop by at home to say hello and check up on the family. We remember with found appreciation your support to Mama and us the children when your friend our Dad (Francis Degbor) passed. Mama always says with gratitude your calls to check up on her so often and how you would ask of each of us the children. You were a true gentleman and may the Angels guide your gentle soul to paradise. To Aunty Sophia and the children may God comfort you immensely

Thank you Sister Seloame for inviting me to the Christmas carol service/get together that was organized for Papa while I was in Ghana in December. I’m happy I could see Papa and also share in the great fellowship with all of you. The family, the songs, and the beautiful atmosphere awakened memories of the past. What readily comes to mind is the first few words whenever I met Papa: “Mawuli, eli nyuidea? Wo le afea? Leke nye suku?” (Translation: “Mawuli, how are you? Where have you been? How is school?”). Those words always evoked a sense of genuine interest in my welfare. Papa cared about the welfare of others.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15). While here, you loved God and worked tirelessly in His service. You personified love for God and neighbour through your actions. You cared deeply and genuinely about everyone you met. Peace-loving and full of good counsel, you would go to any length to ensure people lived at peace. Your love for music, especially hymns, was remarkable. You were almost always able to find a hymn or scripture to capture the moment or teach important lessons. Heaven will rejoice as you join the great angelic choir to sing the praises of our God and King until we meet again at the resurrection.

Papa, you lived a meaningful life that has touched many lives. Though you may be gone from us physically, we will continue to hold on to the memories we made with you. The lessons we gleaned from you over the years will continue to light our paths as we follow in your footsteps.

Rest well Papa!

Mawunyo, it's me . You know how we do it. Always there for each other. As you prepare to lay your Papa to rest, I just want to encourage you to stay strong. The next few days may be the most difficult but God is already in the lead and is holding your hands together with all siblings. May God grant Pr. Jeremiah Addo perfect rest in his bossom.

Mr. Addo as we, the children of Francis Degbor(the Barclays trio), called him was just like a father to us, especially after the demise of his friend Francis Degbor.
Having your been in school with your children and with the proximity of our homes, you welcomed anytime we called on you.

A very gentle and calm soul, Mr. Addo was easily approachable and spoke with wisdom n his advice whenever we visited him.
Eventhough your departure from this world is a great loss to us, I will say yours is a life well lived .

We choose to celebrate you today and are grateful to God for having known you.

Rest in perfect peace

Papa! The past weeks have been full of many learnings for me. I have been kept by the power of God and by the many testimonies people from all walks of life about how you lived. You were such a great blessing to all who encountered you and we thank God for you!

"We're pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road
And those who've gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God's sustaining grace....

CHORUS:
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful"

JD, may the beautiful footprints you have left lead many to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ...may the impactful life you lived inspire us all to live lives of obedience to God, daily. Amen.

Gone too soon Papa. You will be missed. I always remember those days when we were young and me and Edem smashed your Toyota car. We were so scared that heaven and hell will break loose. However you were so calmed. The first thing you asked was if we were not hurt. I will never ever forget such act of fatherhood. May you rest in the blossom of the lord till we meet again.

It was a privilege getting to know you all these years, Mr Addo. You readily welcomed me and my family into your family and then to Wegbe Kpalime.
I will always remember your kindness- indeed my hope is that it will inspire me to show the same kindness to those who cross my paths.
You will indeed be missed: rest in perfect peace.

It was a great opportunity to let me in to love you and experience your love in every way.
Always there, always showed up.
