Jeremy W. Wach, age 31 years, of Wymore, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, while battling a house fire in Wymore. He was born Oct. 4, 1976, at Lincoln. He spent most of his childhood in Estes Park, Colo., and returned to Lincoln in 1993 and was a 1995 graduate of Lincoln High School, and then received his two-year degree from Southeast Community College. He was employed as a lieutenant at the Nebraska Department of Corrections in Tecumseh. He moved to Wymore in September 2002 and was employed as a deputy for the Gage County Sheriff's Dept., and was currently serving as the jail administrator for the department. He married Melissa Schoneweis on Sept. 20, 2003, at the Christ Community Church in Beatrice. He was a Certified Child Passenger Seat Technician and a member of the Wymore Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a Field Training Officer and taught defensive driving. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking, baking, storm chasing and especially his family.

Jeremy is survived by his wife, Melissa; by two sons, Joseph and Matthew, both of the home; his mother, Debbie (Barker) Bowen of Lincoln; a brother, Jake Bowen of Lincoln; two stepbrothers, Ron Wach and his wife Amanda of Dalton, Minn., and Rick Wach of Pearland, Texas; by his mother-in-law, Paula Schoneweis of Beatrice; by his father-in-law, Dennis Schoneweis and his wife Judy of Rogers, Ark.; by two brothers-in-law, Jason Schoneweis of Morrisville, N.C., and Kevin Schoneweis and his special friend, Jolene Porter, of Beatrice; by grandmothers, Wanda Barker of Lincoln and Mary Harris of Wymore; and by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George Varner; by his adoptive father, Ernie Wach; and by his grandfathers, Wayne Barker and Bob Harris.
