IN LOVING MEMORY

    Jerry "JR" Arden Ryan, 65, resident of Brandywine, WV died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.  Mr. Ryan was born August 25, 1941 in Adolph, WV and was the son of the late James Ryan and Lunda (Walker) Ryan.
     Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda D. (George) Ryan, whom he married August 23, 1966, in Mill Creek, WV by Rev. Frank Long.  Also surviving are three daughters, Tammy (David) Whitlock and Angela (Richard) Lockner of Brandywine and Tina(Larry) Cook of Harrisonburg, VA.  Two sons, James (Terry) Ryan of Franklin and Jerry (Janet) Sutherland, Jr. of Brandywine.  Two sisters, Patricia Currence and Janet Hosaflook, both of Mill Creek.  He and Linda have  20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  In adition, to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one grandson, Kevin Whitlock.  Jerry has several in-laws, neices and nephews.  
    Jerry was a tractor trailor driver for many years and drove for Hayes Scott Lumber, Mullenax Trucking and Crosby Trucking. He was a Service Manager and Technician for Clayton Homes in Harrisonburg, VA. He graduated from Mill Creek High School, in Mill Creek, WV, and was a member of the Moose Club and the Eagles Club.  He attended Harrison Community Non-denominational Church, in Mabie, WV.
     Pastor Scott Combs, Jerry;s brother-in-law, will conduct the funeral at 2 pm, Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at the Basagic Funeral Home Chapel,  in Franklin, WV.  Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetary in Brandywine, WV.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm this evening, November 6, 2006, at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the Pendleton County Rescue Squad or the American Cancer Society.
     Jerry  "JR" lost a very couragous battle with lung cancer but in spite of  the disease he spent his last months doing what he did best--loving life and his family, who miss him beyond measure.  However, he faced his death with honor and dignity trusting and believing without a doubt that Our Lord and Savior would give him the ultimate victory over death, for he is now resting in the arms of God himself without sickness, pain or sorrow.  He loved watching wrestling, westerns and old war movies, Jesse Duplantis and he had an obcession with chocolate.  He loved the fall and playing with his grandchildren, having coffee with company, camping, family reunions, the holidays (especially Christmas) and he loved riding back roads, especially West Side--his favorite place to go.
