Gerald (Jerry) F. Scherf, having succumbed to many health challenges, passed away October 2, 2010. He is survived by his brother Russell Scherf of Rohnert Park, sisters Regina Howell of Clearlake Oakes and Christine Hernandez of San Jose, along with is Aunt Alice Osborn, a nephew, nieces and cousins.

Jerry was an accomplished musician as well as lover of fine art. His knowledge of design and architecture was self-taught, yet extensive and eclectic. Jerry's love of people was exhibited by his friendly and out-going personality. He kept in touch with many long-time friends and made himself available to those in need, whether by a helping hand or an encouraging word.

His family wishes to thank the many individuals and friends who helped Jerry in his last days. The kindness shown by neighbors, friends, hospital staff and his care home was of comfort to him and greatly appreciated by his family.

He will be sorely missed. Although his music is silenced, the melody of his life touched others, and will be remembered fondly with much love.

I don't light candles but my dear brother was a joyful light in my world. He taught me many things..love of music and design; also kindness and generosity. His imagination was so wonderful. I miss him. My friend will sleep for now, but will awaken happy and whole--John 5:28,29.

Uncle Jerry was very inspirational to so many people. I so much appreciated his eye for interesting things, his very clever, sharp, witty sense of humor, and his endless knowledge of books, music and antiquities. I look forward to a time when I may see him again, young and healthy, and share in his love of art, music, and all things beautiful. (Rev. 21:4; Acts 24:15)
